Vehicle Description
1970 Pontiac Lemans Sport
The Pontiac LeMans was a model name that was applied to subcompact-
and intermediate-sized automobiles marketed by Pontiac from 1962 to
1981 (1983 in Canada). Originally a trim upgrade based on the
Tempest, it spawned the industry changing signature muscle car, the
GTO, in 1964. Manufactured in five generations in the 1960s and
'70s.
For consignment, a numbers matching 350ci V8 2-barrel carburetor
3-speed automatic transmission muscle car. This one has been
resprayed, and some body work performed, but is all sorted, and
presents well for the interior and exterior. Engine wise it will
not run or start, and it is believed is just not getting a spark.
Take a close look at this wide track as it is priced
conservatively.
Exterior
Now painted in Green Metallic, this dual grille, dual headlight
versions has a matching bumper, and a nifty Satin Silver arrowhead
that runs from the front of the hood back to the clean glass which
is the windshield. A two-door hardtop allows the roofline to become
a fastback on the rear, and also sports a wide stripe on the trunk
lid. In bumper wrap around taillights and correct badging are all
in good condition. Paint shows some areas of staining and has a few
slight areas of rust formation where inconsistent body panels meet.
Solid design multiple outside faux American Racing wheels are on
all 4 corners.
Interior
Black buckets up front, in very nicely preserved condition are
flanking a center console with an armrest/glovebox, and a wood
grained appliqu gearshift near the dash. The dash is black and
shows no cracks or staining. Some wood appliqu also is put on
where the gauge cluster is mounted, all in front of an original
steering wheel. A rear bench stretches from black tuck and roll
door panel to door panel and is looking almost like new. The
headliner above is tight, and carpet below is in good unstained,
unfaded condition. AC vents are present, although the unit has long
since been removed.
Drivetrain
Under the hood is the numbers matching 350ci V8 topped by a single
2-barrel carburetor, and having a 3 speed TH350 automatic
transmission attached to the rear of this mill. A 10-bolt rear
brings up the back portion of the drivetrain. As noted, this engine
will not start or run on ether or gas.
Undercarriage
A mild covering of surface rust is seen on most parts and panels
underneath. The structure remains sound, and it appears a new fuel
tank and exhaust system have been recently added.
This 1970 LeMans has had the benefit of a respray, at which time
they changed the color to Metallic Green with silver accents, redid
the body panels if needed, and paid attention to the very nice
interior. Engine does not start or run, but it is a numbers
matching muscle car.
