Vehicle Description
1962 Ford Galaxie 500 - Numbers Matching 390ci V8 - Magazine and
Historical Ford Book Featured - One Family Owned Since New - 2 Sets
of Wheels - Extremely nice example (Please note: If you happen to
be viewing this vehicle on a website other than our main website,
it's possible that only some of our many photographs of this car
are not presented due to website limitations. To be sure you access
all the photographs, please go to our main website: Garage Kept
Motors.) We're excited to offer this one family owned, gorgeous
Galaxie that has a fun story. The original owner, our client's late
father bought this car new in early 1962, about a month after
ordering the car. He shared memories about the car in an article in
the Galaxie Gazette magazine, sharing that he remembered picking up
the car with 1 mile showing on the odometer, and the salesman
asking if he had a girlfriend. The salesman then made the claim
that he would have many girlfriends owning a car like the Galaxie.
This car was also used for a magazine feature in the February 1996
issue of Collectible Automobile Magazine, and was chosen for use in
a historical Ford book called, Ford Chronicle; A Pictorial History
from 1893. Taking in the details, cleanliness, and the fit and
finish of this Galaxie, we can understand why this car has been
chosen for features in the past. This car is still magazine worthy.
Finished in the factory correct Rangoon Red, the exterior of this
Galaxie is just beautiful. Body panels line up just right and are
straight, and the trim and brightwork look factory fresh right down
to the little gold spheres on the tops of the front fender trim.
All of the sheet metal is original, although approximately 25 years
ago the car underwent a restoration to bring it back to a factory
fresh look. We'd say that is just the way it currently looks.
Polished American Racing wheels give this car a custom, more
aggressive style. Want to change the look of the car? This car can
go from a modern hot rod look with the alloy wheels, to the
original look with the original wheels, wheel covers, and bias-ply
tires in a short amount of time. Slide behind the steering wheel
and you get the chance to take in a '62 Galaxie interior that looks
new. The sleek red painted dashboard houses a simple gauge cluster
with sweeping speedometer, a Ford AM radio, 'engine turned
aluminum' trim, and finished off by the familiar, stylized Galaxie
500 script. Under the hood is the original 390ci V8 mated to the
original 3-speed manual. 3.50:1 gears are still found in the rear
axle, as the car was optioned from the factory. The engine bay and
engine itself are extremely clean, and those with a keen eye will
notice the 'Thunderbird' valve covers. A number of different
Thunderbird V8's were available as an option for the Galaxie. This
Galaxie is just stunning...or should we say, Out of this world? Be
