The "Pagoda" SL models are some of the finest cars to come from
Mercedes with timeless and graceful styling, spirited handling and
performance and superb build quality. The 230SL departed from
Mercedes old styling and launched a series of cars with a clean and
elegant lines and the tall removable hardtop nicknamed a
"pagoda."
Power comes from a peppy 2.3 liter overhead cam, inline 6 with
Bosch fuel injection. Horsepower was rated at 170hp. This car has
the desirable floor mounted 4 speed manual transmission. Girling
disc brakes in the front and power assisted drums in the rear stop
the 230SL just fine.
The black leather interior contrasts nicely with the original and
dramatic red exterior.
The detachable hardtop is red matching the body color while the
convertible top is black.
The current owners father purchased this 230SL from the original
owner and passed its care on to his son. It has been meticulously
maintained with a tune-up each spring and never driven in the
winter.
