Vehicle Description
1937 Chevrolet Master Deluxe
The 1937 Chevrolet Master and Master Deluxe was touted as "The
complete car, completely new" in ads. Retooling had cost $26
million, an astronomical figure by the standards of the time. Not
since 1929 had Chevrolets been altered so completely. Impressive
new styling of the 1937 Chevrolet Master and Master Deluxe was the
work of Jules Agramonte, who had designed the stunning 1934
LaSalle.
This Master Deluxe Coupe presents in a hot-rodded version with a
smart color combination, nifty interior, and sporty 350ci crate
engine. Overall very nice condition, a turnkey car that you can use
to go or show or both, just pure enjoyment as it is a smooth
runner, and a nice build.
Exterior
With some dapper graphics and use of the two-tone paint colors of
Pale Pastel Green, and Vanilla Cream, and just a smattering of red
pin striping we have an aptly named "Creme De Menthe" custom rod.
With its classic coupe lines, high front grille, bullet headlights,
and voluptuous fenders connected by a running board, it all comes
together as a cool skate. Straight lines and dimple free steel (we
assume as our magnet stuck!) panels and well minded gaps, it is a
great shower. Bling on all 4 corners courtesy Billet Specialties
ribbed twist pattern wheels.
Interior
Total custom here with Mint Green speckled tweed buckets, same
pattern headliner, and a rear storage area with a padded embossed
bowtie, and some snazzy door panels also embossed ion foam bowtie
and '37 graphics. Swing our eyes inward and we are met with a tilt
column padded rally style LeCarra steering wheel, fronting some art
deco sexy horizontal ribbed aluminum panels which house a VDO gauge
cluster, temp controls (Vintage Air) and a glove box door, all
embedded in a minty metal dash. Flooding the floor is a dark green
plush pile carpet also in very nice spot free condition. Climbing
skyward from the carpet is a Lokar shifter, ergonomically placed at
the perfect driver's height.
Drivetrain
Chevrolet provides the 350ci crate engine in V8 format and backing
this is a 350 TH 3-speed transmission. Atop is a 4-barrel
carburetor to feed the mill. All tucked neatly under the dual side
cowled hood, and pristine engine bay. Attention to detail comes out
with the color way matching ignition wires...neato.
Undercarriage
We've had the pleasure of hosting several of this
consigner/builder's cars, and not unlike any others the underside
is simply showroom. No dirt, splashes, certainly no rust, and pure
black, and in this case mint. A Mustang 2 rack and pinion steering/
suspension in front and a leaf spring in the rear offer up a smooth
ride and good handling. Power steering allows easy drivability. A
Ford 8" rear, and front disc brakes and rear drum brakes are also
noted. Sparkling.
Certainly, a very nice build, rock solid, interesting visually, and
a beautiful Agramonte design and line on this car. I guess one
could say "minty" condition, tongue firmly planted in cheek!
