Vehicle Description
Combining a sharp looking exterior, surprisingly fresh interior and
unusually strong driving condition, this 1983 Toyota Celica Supra
Mark II is about as clean a representative of its model as you're
ever likely to find. It's logged about 87,000 miles - not a lot for
a 30-plus year old car and even far less consequential for a brand
that's so revered for the consistent reliability of its cars.
Good care and consistently sheltering over the years have left this
sporty ride looking pretty much as it did when it debuted. Its
factory-issue white paint is impressively clean, with a pleasing
shine, consistently smooth texture and no flaws of note - quite an
accomplishment for a car coming from its era. The contrasting
bumpers at both ends, as well as the rear deck spoiler and body
trim running the length of the sides, did receive some freshening
up at the paint booth not long ago, injecting even more vitality
into a thoroughly road-ready appearance. The exterior alignment is
precise on this vintage Toyota - the body panels blend together
well from front to back and the hood, doors and rear hatch are
surrounded by tight, even gaps that allow them to open and close
with no issues at all. Up front, the hidden headlights sit flush in
their lowered position and, unlike so many of their counterparts,
raise into place smoothly, while in back, the broad taillights are
crystal clear.
Inside the doors, you'll notice right away that Toyota's sterling
reputation for unerring durability exacted no compromise on
functionality on this model. The pair of nicely contoured bucket
seats are the centerpoint of an impressively clean burgundy
interior and offer both plenty of comfort and ample adjustability.
Their accented cloth surfaces show very little wear as they
straddle a clean center console whose incline puts the shifter
within easy reach and the carpet below is in matching condition.
Farther forward, the dash area is another strong feature, with a
collection of clear, functional factory gauges in its instrument
cluster and a pad free of any cracks running across the top. The
original air conditioning system is in good working order and has
been retrofitted for modern refrigerant, so it's well-positioned to
keep you and your passengers comfortable during these summer
months. Raise the rear hatch and you'll find some welcome and
well-maintained storage space behind the rear bench seat.
The clean condition of the engine compartment is another indication
that this Toyota has been well-looked after and the fuel-injected
2.8 liter inline 6 at its center has been a definite beneficiary,
starting promptly and running smoothly as it produces plenty of
power through its entire RPM range. The engine pairs with a 5-speed
manual transmission to maximize its output while offering a nice,
pleasing driving experience - it shifts very smoothly, with a
seamless clutch engagement. The drivetrain is rounded out by 4:10
gears in back to make for energetic off the line performance - the
transmission also features an overdrive gear so RPMs still remain
comfortably low at highway speeds. Independent suspension at both
ends equips the car with a comfortable, yet agile ride, while power
brakes at all four corners bring its set of 14" factory wheels
wearing BF Goodrich T/A radials to dependably quick stops. Power
steering makes maneuvering this '80s icon a low effort affair.
You'll rarely come across any car from the early '80s that's in the
clean condition sported by this 1983 Toyota Celica Supra Mark II
and true to form, it's running and driving great and stands ready
for plenty of future miles. Call today!
