Vehicle Description
In the face of modern technology, which continues to blow our minds
with OEM quality and amazing custom cars, there's still something
to be said about authenticity. Sure, tons of companies create super
nice fiberglass replicas of some of the coolest Detroit metal to
ever roll across Route 66. But at the end of the day, they're still
just a copy of the real thing. Featuring 302 cubic inches of
Dearborn power, this real steel street rod combines the core
strengths of originality with modern dynamics and top-notch
components. Are you one of those discerning gearheads who wants the
excellent driving experience of modern street rod technology AND
the authenticity of a real antique car? This first class Ford is
the opportunity you've been waiting for!
BODYWORK/TRIM
The hot coupe's smooth and solid steel body began life as a
run-of-the-mill 1936 Model 48 that was maintained, driven and
paraded for most of its life. During a detailed, frame-off
restoration, that old school metal was stripped, sanded, fitted
with a louvered hood and layered in conservative black 2-stage.
That 2-stage was complemented with traditional pinstripes, a tight
vinyl roof and mirrored bumpers. And everything was finished in
tasteful trim, which includes dual chrome mirrors, polished spears
and a "V8" branded Alumicraft grille.
ENGINE
'Keep it simple' is a good philosophy when it comes to performance
and reliability. And the builders of this top-notch coupe did
exactly that by equipping the car with a familiar Boss 302 V8. At
the top of the fully sorted mill, three finned and polished air
cleaners feed oxygen to three Holley 2100 carburetors. Below those
carburetors, a coated intake rides between lightweight aluminum
heads, which are equipped with finned Offenhauser valve covers. In
front of those heads, an MSD Pro-Billet distributor fires loomed
MSD Super Conductor plug wires that snake around coated,
aftermarket exhaust manifolds. In front of those wires, a beefy
serpentine drive spins modern power steering beneath a coated water
pump. And at the front of that drive, a big electric puller fan
cools a factory radiator. Aesthetically, the subdued small block
rides in a clutter-free engine bay that's finished to the same
level as the car's exterior panels. And nice pieces like braided
hoses, polished lines, a Summit pressure gauge, a "V8" radiator cap
and snazzy Ford breathers provide a perfect amount of visual
punch!
DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION
This Ford's chrome-clad AOD 4-speed automatic was sourced directly
from Art Carr Transmissions. That gearbox powers a proven Ford
9-inch, which is equipped with sturdy 3.55 gears. In front of that
drivetrain, a Mustang II front clip features power rack-and-pinion
steering. Behind that drivetrain, tough leaf springs make good use
of high quality Pete & Jake's shocks. The car's fully restored
frame and professionally finished floor host an assortment of top
quality hardware, such as a modern brake booster, a Drivelines
Incorporated driveshaft and an electric fuel pump. Stops are
achieved by big calipers, drilled and slotted rotors and heavy duty
drums. The aforementioned manifolds flow into polished, 2.5-inch
pipes, which position polished, glasspack-style mufflers in front
of trumpeted tips. And painted and stainless-trimmed artillery
wheels spin 175/65R15 Goodyear Assurance radials in front of
255/65R16 Goodyear Eagle LS.
INTERIOR
Twist this awesome 48's vintage door handles and you'll find that
'simple' remains the name of the game. The car's leather-lined
cockpit is trimmed with a broad bench seat, chrome window frames,
metallic gauges and a spoon-style accelerator pedal. Vintage Air
conditioning offers refreshing reprieve from hot summer car shows.
In front of the driver, a polished steering wheel spins around a
polished, tilting column. And behind the passengers, a fully
upholstered trunk rides beneath convenient deck storage.
You really can't ask for a cooler street rod than this '36 Ford.
With an unbeatable combination of authentic good looks and modern
hot rod technology, it's the perfect car for any enthusiast who
wants a top-notch build without spending two years and six figures
achieving it. If you're in the market for a classy, all-steel
cruiser, don't let the opportunity to own this awesome coupe pass
you by!
