Vehicle Description
With a great looking exterior shade draped over its solid form,
this 1983 Ford F-150 4x4 cuts quite an appearance, whether its
navigating rugged terrain, pulling up to a work site or just
cruising around town. This seventh generation representative of
Ford's heralded line of workhorses is running with gusto via the
upgraded powerplant it now carries and its substantial wheel
clearance makes it adept at handling conditions off the asphalt. At
the same time it's also plenty well equipped to provide a
comfortable driving experience in more commonly encountered
conditions.
You don't often see trucks of this era wearing the light blue paint
that this '83 features over its stock exterior. The shade looks
great in this setting, complimenting the more sizable form that
came from a thorough redesign Ford took the model through only a
few years earlier before this F-150 rolled out to increase its
payload handling ability. The paint was applied not long ago and
presents well, and the sheet metal just below appears to be solid.
Should you decide to maximize this F-150's already strong presence
with some freshening up, none of it would be overly involved - the
foundation here seems to be in very good order, so a trip to the
re-plating shop and some replaced rubber here and there will make a
big difference. The glass surrounding the cabin is still nice and
clear and there's a newly added black step bumper in back.
Considering this vintage truck has yet to see the inside of an
upholstery shop over the course of its extensive lifetime, its
interior has come through the years in pretty solid fashion while
remaining in stock configuration, though the signs of both the
passing years and dutiful service are scattered throughout the
cabin. The gray cloth bench seat has yet to develop any splitting
and still offers all the comfort needed for even longer journeys,
and the overall level of functionality inside the doors is solid.
The steering wheel wears a fresh leather wrap and the instrument
panel beyond it hosts a cluster's worth of clear, functional
gauges. The dash pad above it hasn't fared quite as well and could
stand with a replacement - not an overly involved task. An
aftermarket AM/FM/CD stereo now resides at the center of the dash
and both the manual shifter and the lever engaging this F-150's
4-wheel drive surefootedness sit within easy reach on the
transmission tunnel. In back, the bed area is protected by a liner
over its floor and the surrounding light blue walls are looking
very clean.
Beneath the hood, the emphasis is on plenty of dependable power to
propel this pickup through whatever conditions it may find itself
in. The 351 cubic inch Windsor in its engine bay is a capable
powerplant and it's in strong form here, starting promptly and
running smoothly as it pairs with a 4 speed manual transmission
that, along with this classic Ford's featured four wheel drive, is
operating in top form. Power steering makes for easy navigation
both on and off the asphalt, while power brakes - with discs up
front - bring this rugged ride to low effort, fade resistant stops
as it performs its duties on a set of 15" steel wheels wrapped with
Trailbuster Radial II tires that still show plenty of tread. Below,
the undercarriage stands ready for plenty of future miles.
Solid and straight throughout and running strong, this 1983 Ford
F-150 4x4 offers a great mix of off-road ability and vintage appeal
that can be yours at an attainable price. Call today!
