1947 Mercury Convertible with a great story and vintage hot rod culture and history! This car was given as a high school graduation gift to the Gentleman that I bought it from in the late 50s he drove it back and fourth from Iowa to Tempe Arizona ASU for college and made many trips. Finally the Flathead V8 engine gave out in 1959 and he replaced it with a 1955 265 Corvette engine and Ford 39 3 speed gear box. He continued to drive and race the car until 1964 when it was parked covered in a garage from 1964 until 2019. I purchased the car and replace all the brake lines, wheel cylinders, master cylinder, fluids, fuel ect. Replaced the valve springs and seals on the engine and rebuilt the carburetor. The engine is 100% complete and original "solid lifter" 265 out of the 1955 Corvette including original exhaust manifolds, Carter carburetor and cast iron dual point distributor! It was converted to 12v and all the lights work fine. The car is a "garage find survivor" it does run and drive and with a little more work be enjoyed as is! This Mercury is a great time capsule of vintage American hot rod culture.
