For Sale: 1964 Ford Mustang in Rowlett, Texas

Vehicle Description

The 1964 1/2 Ford Mustang is the original Pony car. It was an instant success. That success has endured uninterrupted until the current day and has become the icon of the affordable American performance car. The first Mustang was originally a rebodied Ford Falcon and company executive Lee Iaccoca, determined to upstage Chrysler's attempt to do the same with the new Plymouth Valiant based Barracuda, rushed the Mustang to market before the start of the traditional '65 model year, proclaiming these early cars 1964 1/2 model year Mustangs.

The one thing that distinguishes the '64 1/2 from the '65 model is the 260 cubic inch V8 engine. The fifth character "F" in the VIN of this car designates it was equipped with that 260 cubic inch engine indicating that this Mustang is indeed a '64 1/2.

This car was restored with the intent to make it reliable and safe to operate on today's modern roads and highways. Mission accomplished. Under the hood, the 260 cubic inch engine was rebuilt and upgraded to electronic fuel injection. As a result this car starts, idles and revs up easy. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a smooth shifting three speed automatic transmission. Brakes have been upgraded to power assisted front discs; steering to power assisted rack and pinion. Modern AC components have also been adapted.

This car rolls down the road, accelerates, steers and stops excellent. Put your foot down and you are reminded of why they called these muscle cars. The transmission kicks down crisply and the motor makes some powerful V8 sounds. It keeps up easily with modern interstate traffic. The engine runs cool all day long in the Texas summer while the AC blows cold. All of the lights and instrumentation are in working order. Windows roll up and down perfectly. Tires are in like new condition. This car is up for daily driver duty if you're so inclined.

The car has a very nice paint job and the seats and door panels have been redone in matching two tone leather! New carpet and headliner have also been installed. There is virtually no rust on this car. The one exception being a few very small spots on the trunk floor where moisture gets trapped under the rubber mat.

First generation Mustangs are among the most loved, recognizable and collectible classic cars. The coupe versions are among the most affordable, presenting buyers with both excellent value and rock solid investment. Buy this car, enjoy it and take care of it and you will never lose money on it.
