1980 BMW 528i – For sale by 2nd owner.
This two-family owned 1980 BMW 528i was produced in April 1980 and sold new in Houston, Texas by BMW Auto Center. The seller purchased the vehicle in 1992 with 79,000 miles. The car has been maintained as 100% stock by Munich Motorwerke since 1982/13,942 miles (https://www.munichmotorwerke.com/) and all service records are present. The car has always been parked in closed garages.
Equipped with automatic transmission, alloy wheels, leather seats, electric windows, sunroof and locks. It is offered with a clear Texas title.
The vehicle has been refinished once (April 2016) to a high standard in its original Graphite Metallic (087) after sustaining minor damage to the left rear door and quarter panel. The red leather front seats were recovered with factory red leather in 1998 at which time both front and rear seats were re-padded. In November 2018, four leather panels on the rear seat were replaced and the headliner was re-dyed.
Indicated mileage is 167,216 although the odometer stopped working in early 2015, TMU. A/C (R134a) blows cold and all windows and sunroof function properly. A modern radio is installed. The right rear lock actuator no longer works and the right front lock actuator is intermittent. There is a small tear in the sunroof headliner and a dent below the turn signal assembly on the left front fender seen in the photos. The antenna does not complete retract.
Compression test results show cylinders 1-6 as 125, 115, 115, 120, 120, 120 psi respectively. A recent service included an oil and filter change along with replacement of all 6 spark plugs. Texas state inspection is current and good through August 2020.
In spring 2007, the vehicle was the subject of a winning photo in a contest and was featured in Fast Times, the newsletter of Bavarian Autosport.
