Introduced in 1978, the 911SC was more refined, driver friendly,
dependable and still out-performed every other car in its class. It
was designed to attract not only on-the-edge sport driving
enthusiasts, but also to the rather gentler sport touring genre.
The SC, which stands for "Super Carrera" was destined to be the
last of the 911 line as the all-new front-engined V-8 Model 928 was
to take over as the flagship for the 1979 model year. Built around
the heartbeat of the classic 1974 Carrera 3.0 Turbo, an engine
design that could be further tuned for performance and still be
deemed practically "bulletproof", it is what helped attribute to
the model's lifetime of success and appeal.
Completed in April of 1979 and sold new through Century
Porsche+Audi of Alhambra, California, 9119201511 came finished in
Black (A1) over Black Partial Leather upholstery (09), along with
an extraordinary list of factory optional equipment. The Porsche
911SC would reside in Southern California for the remainder of its
life, while casually driven and pampered, which certainly reflects
in its excellent presentation.
The Porsche remains in largely original condition throughout, with
the benefit of a recent, inspection, service, and extensive
detailing. It's black "cookie cutter" wheels are freshly shod with
correct-as-delivered 205/55 and 225/50 Pirelli tires, while its
strong running, matching-numbers powerplant is fitted with original
smog equipment and working air conditioning. In addition to
Porsche's Certificate of Authenticity, this 911 is accompanied by
its original books in vinyl folio, such as the VIN-matched Warranty
& Maintenance booklet, Owner's Manual and original 1980 California
Temporary Operating Permit. A 1980 University of Southern
California parking permit remains affixed to the windscreen. Known
for their exceptional reliability and underrated performance, this
911SC offers an abundance of opportunity for its next
caretaker.
