Vehicle Description
With its thorough array of mechanical upgrades paired with an
outstanding, well-crafted appearance, this 1937 Ford 5-Window Coupe
is one exceptionally slick-looking, great-driving street rod. This
is a classic that would be an absolute "must have" for many based
on its curb appeal alone and yet its accompanying exemplary street
manners and dependable power make it a joy to drive as well.
This Coupe has all the vintage magnetism you'd look for in a car of
its niche and its Pearl White exterior is a nice departure from the
norm. The paint presents exceedingly well - it's got a glass like
finish and nearly radiates when exposed to the sun. From that
distinctive angular grille bracketed by custom headlights back to
the teardrop-shaped taillight casings, the collection of chrome on
board here is in great form. Its largely steel body makes it
well-positioned to hold up to many miles of use and the passing of
time, and it pairs with a fiberglass hood and fenders that lighten
the load just a bit, adding to an already favorable power to weight
ratio. This Coupe sits fairly low to the ground for a tastefully
aggressive appearance and just the right amount of wheel offset has
been dialed into the mix, so you won't find the rubber surrounding
the show-stopping custom wheels scraping on the fender wells.
You'd have to do quite a bit of searching to find a custom interior
that's got anywhere near the visual impact of this one. It's not
just striking but also functional and very comfortable. There's a
pair of late model leather bucket seats in place up front with
6-way adjustability that sit over an expanse of well-fitted
crme-colored Berber carpet and the custom headliner above ties in
perfectly with the two-tone door panels to each side. The dash area
just beyond the plushly wrapped steering wheel perched on its
chrome tilt column is a showstopper. There's a full complement of
parchment-faced Classic Instrument gauges recessed inside to
monitor motoring functions, and an underdash climate control system
has been added to keep things cool during these summer months.
Raise the sloping deck lid and you'll see that the rear storage
area is just as well crafted as the rest of the interior, and is
surrounded by fabric lined walls and a carpeted floor, with a
pass-through door to access the passenger compartment.
The 350 cubic inch V8 standing by under the hood wears a Holley
4-barrel carb over its aluminum intake manifold, and an added mild
performance cam provides some extra muscle without wreaking havoc
on available vacuum. It pairs with a freshly rebuilt and
well-fortified 4-speed automatic 700r4 transmission with an
overdrive gear to keep the revs low at highway speeds - just
imagine the looks you'll get behind the wheel of this attention
magnet. A sizable aluminum radiator pairs with an electric fan to
keep running temps in check and the road manners on this vintage
Ford are outstanding. It rides on a Mustang II front suspension
that brings with it power rack and pinion steering, coilovers and
power disc brakes that join the additional pair in back for
outstanding stopping ability and in back you'll find a 4-link
suspension with coilovers of its own to make for a smooth, refined
ride. This exceptionally well configured classic rolls on a set of
17" Boyd Coddington wheels that provide a great finishing
touch.
