Vehicle Description
1974 Chevrolet Corvette Roadster
The arrival of the 1974 Chevy Corvette occurred during an abysmal
period in automotive history. The period in question actually began
in October 1973 when OAPEC, (the Arab members of OPEC) plus Egypt,
Syria, and Tunisia proclaimed an oil embargo against the United
States. Long lines for gas sprung up nationwide, and the era of the
large engine muscle car was coming to an end. Instead of pure
power, companies focused on conveniences, and smooth ride, and this
year Corvette is exemplary of the times.
For consignment a nice unrestored original with a consigner stated
mere 19,250 original miles! Items of interest are the A/C has been
converted to 134A, and it comes in a not often found Dark Green
Metallic exterior, convertible, and a hardtop to match the
exterior.
Exterior
One has to love the design on this curvaceous Corvette. From its
sting ray-esque nose, flared fenders, low slung panels, a chrome
rocker, and rounded off rear this is definitely my favorite
Corvette design, right next to the 63 Split window. All this
fiberglass is bathed in a Dark Metallic Green, not an often-seen
color on a Corvette. The black convertible is in very nice
condition with the rear window showing clear plastic. The removable
matching hardtop is very nice as well, and all original. Deep
chromed dish wheels are wrapped by Eagle GT radials with white
raised letters. It doesn't get any better than this original.
Interior
A sea of Black leather buckets, carpet, dash, and door panels, with
just a few areas of added woodgrain make up the original interior.
Original deeply sunk in round gauges front the steering wheel,
center of dash, and even AC is installed (needs charged) in the
console controlled by horizontal wheels for temperature...very
modern! The 4-speed manual transmission shifter is here as well. A
flip of the convertible top storage area behind the buckets,
reveals a 10-Disc CD player with remote. Also, some serious woofers
and tweeters in custom boxes will rock your world.
Drivetrain
3970010 1969-1979 350ci V8...numbers matching puts out a propertied
195hp V0928CKZ-Flint Sept 29 Built 350 4BBL. 14S404980 is stamped
on this block. A single 4-barrel feeds fuel and air, and it puts
power back to a 4-speed Muncie M21 Transmission.
Undercarriage
A few areas of surface rust, but nothing out of the ordinary for a
car from 1974. Nice patina, solid frame and rockers areas of
rustproofing are seen sprayed overall. 4-wheel power disc brakes
are on all 4 corners.
An original unrestored number matching Corvette all in its 1974
glory! Fiberglass is good, not perfect, but its
unrestored...ORIGINAL!
