Vehicle Description
1972 Chevrolet C10 Pickup
The Chevrolet C-10 designation can be confusing at times, with the
C-10, C-20, C-30, and then the line of K designations to throw in
as well. The difference being between C & K is C is 2-wheel drive,
and K is 4-wheel drive. The numerical designation denotes weight
maximum. 10 is 1/2 ton, 20 is 3/4 ton, and 30 is 1 ton.
For consignment a C (2-wheel drive) 10 (1/2 ton) pickup from 1972,
however this one houses a few secrets of its own. Closely
resembling the original truck but this one has definitely been
resto-modded. All straight panels, a new powerplant and
transmission, a new dash, and several other secrets to be revealed
in this episode!
Exterior
Excellent straight panels, good gapping, a new scooped hood, and
modified step sides to extend in the back of the rear fenders, and
extending around to rear bumper, one can have access to the bed
from all points around this truck. All this bathed in stunning red.
Perfectly placed rubber gripping has been put on these steps to
secure your footing. The front of the truck in the grille area
remains 1972 unaltered with a nice chrome surrounded egg crate
grille, in black and a centered bow tie badge in white. A note to
the bed which has been shot with a spray on liner and sports a snap
on vinyl cover keeping everything dry. 15" American Racing Torque
Thrust wheels are all around and shine over the red on the corners.
All chrome is in very good condition on this restored truck.
Interior
In front a black padded dash top hovers over a red sprayed metal
dash. The 1972 original dash has been replaced with a 1972
tachometer dash, all C-10. Door panels present in black with a
Sheridan style emboss to add some texture. A large gray cloth bench
stretches from door to door, and has vinyl bolsters, this all in
gray. Noted the seats have 3-point seatbelts. Black carpet floods
the floor and is very clean. Vintage air has been installed keeping
things nice and cool, and a more modern AM/FM radio sits within the
dash. A Hurst shifter is mounted in the middle of the bench seat,
and floating above is a pristine metal interior roof, no
headliner.
Drivetrain
Clean and mean under the hood with a nicely resprayed engine bay in
black which houses a new 350ci GM Crate motor with a turbo fire
4-barrel carburetor atop. The 4-speed manual is a Borg Warner Super
T-10 and shifts flawlessly, putting power to the 3.73 open 12-bolt
rear.
Undercarriage
Completely devoid of any rust, we see lots of new black respray.
Frame is very sturdy, and rockers have been repaired and modified
to accommodate the above extended step sides. Lower interior door
panels are rust free. Power disc brakes are up front, and drums on
the rear.
A meticulous restoration/modification, bathed in great red paint,
nice smattering of chrome, and interesting modified step sides,
make this 1972 a truly unique build. Add some power under the hood,
and a nice interior, and we have a good one!
