The 1949-1951 Ford and Mercury coupes have long been a hot rodding
cult classic and the choice of builders everywhere. The classic
styling coupled with the Chevy 350 small block made for a perfect
lead sled back in the day, and make for a perfect retro lead sled
now. With no end to the creations possible with a classic Ford
coupe, these cars are sure to be fan favorites for years to come!
This particular 1951 Ford Coupe for sale is just about everything
you could want in an old school cruiser.
This 1950 Ford retains much of its original styling while
simultaneously carrying a hint of hot rod everywhere it goes. The
top hasn't been chopped, nor has the body been otherwise
drastically altered, so perhaps this is what helps it retain a
slight air of originality while showing off as a custom cruiser.
The paint is a gorgeous metallic red that oozes class and shows
well under any lighting as a $10,000 paint job of this caliber
should. The subtle "Kustom" side stripes really help give it that
lead sled aura, while also appearing as chrome moldings at a
distance. The color-matched wheels and white walls subtly spice
things up. Though it isn't one of those "in your face" customs,
this Ford is sure to draw a crowd just about anywhere you go! The
body is clean and straight under that gorgeous paint job, and the
Frenched lights are a hot rod "must have."
Thought the exterior was gorgeous? Well, it is, but wait until you
step inside! The gorgeous white and parchment custom interior was
installed to the tune of $6,000, and looks just like a show-quality
custom interior should. The seats are covered in vinyl while any
painted surfaces have been made to match the exterior paint. All of
the chrome pieces add just the right amount of contrast to tie
everything together! Truly, the interior of this car is as stunning
as the exterior and simply will not disappoint. All of the details
have been addressed, and all components are showing very minimal
wear.
Under the hood sits a hot rod legend, a Chevrolet 350 V8! This
appears to be a crate motor that has been done up with minor
upgrades inside and out. A 4-barrel carburetor and aluminum
Edelbrock intake have been added, and there are assorted chrome
accents throughout. This car runs great and sounds great too; it
gets great smiles-per-gallon! The engine bay is clean and tidy and
continues to reflect the quality of the build this car received.
The 350 is mated to a Chevrolet 3-speed manual transmission. To top
it off, everything has been converted to 12 volt for ease of
maintenance and drivability.
If this old Ford hasn't already impressed you, you may just have to
come take a look at it in person to believe the quality. It is a
nicely built "Shoebox Ford" that isn't over the top, but has been
done up to the nines! This puppy is ready to cruise, and will be a
crowd-pleaser at any event.
