1970 Plymouth Superbird Original Car with Build Sheet!
Why This Vehicle is Special
When is the last time you have ever seen a rare 1970 Plymouth
Superbird with a 440 cubic inch engine in bright orange like the
one we have at Skyway Classics? It has the original drive train in
an original car and we even have the Build Sheet and other
paperwork! NASCAR required Plymouth to build a few over 1900 of
these race car packages and how many are still around today is
anybody's guess.
Mechanica
The clean, painted, and mostly factory correct engine compartment
on our Bird is filled with the 440 cubic-inch Super Commando engine
is a great runner and highly original. It has an Edelbrock carb,
chrome air cleaner top, black crinkle coated valve covers and tube
headers on it but the originals come with it too.
It shifts with the three-speed automatic TorqueFlite tranny and
power goes out the heavy duty rear end as the sounds emanate from
the dual exhaust system with chrome tips underneath the rear
bumper. Interior
Our Superbird has one very original looking black bucket interiors
you will ever see with black vinyl trim and door panels, black
carpet, factory looking dash, original Road Runner cartoon emblem
in the center of the original three-spoke wood rim steering wheel,
original full gauge panel still includes the tach/clock combo next
to the large speedometer and a large aftermarket tach, and the
automatic shifter in the console.
Exterior
The bright "Tor Red" orange paint is an attention getter but throw
in the black vinyl top, the hood pins, Road Runner cartoon
graphics, the original Rallye wheels and B.F. Goodrich Radial TA
tires, the huge black Plymouth graphics on the sides, let alone the
huge NASCAR wing on the back and the super sleek aerodynamic nose
on the front, and you have one heck of a muscle car that everybody
will stop to stare at on the road or at the shows.
Conclusion
1970 Plymouth Superbird we have at Skyway Classics looks just as
amazing as it did when it was designed as a race car for NASCAR.
