With 1998 marking the end of the Porsche 993 generation, people were eager to purchase the final batch of these 911s that retained Porsche's Luftgek�hlt (air-cooled) heritage. Designed from the ground up both mechanically and cosmetically vs. the previous 964 generation, the 993s are considered some of the best driving and well put together 911s to date. These passionate buyers and collectors thought that this was the last hooray for the 911, uncertain of the new water-cooled 911s and what they would bring. This Artic Silver 911 C2S was first purchased by Raymond Hayes Goodmon III, taking the utmost care of this special Porsche. Purchasing the car new in February of 1998, he owned the car for the next 17 years while putting 18,983 miles on the car. Proof of his attention to detail is how often the car was serviced during his ownership, with documented service since new. The remained in his ownership until the C2S was purchased by its second owner in early 2016 who lived in Southern California.
Once the car arrived, it was decided that the C2S would be treated to a full mechanical refreshing and refurbishment due the first owner letting the 911 sit idle. In April of 2016 Callas Rennsport of Torrance, CA performed the mechanical work. During the 911's visit, the sunroof seals were replaced, air conditioning serviced, full brake fluid flush and brake hoses replaced, new distributor caps, new belts, new tires, alternator pully update, transmission fluid flush, and a other service items. Later during the year, the front control arm bushings were replaced, along with new front and rear Bilstein shock absorbers. New spark plugs, a new battery was installed, new updated keys were made along with some other minor service items. In all, this 911 C2S has seen a comprehensive service completing any and all items needing attending to.
The 2nd owner kept the C2S for three years, enjoying the car and adding less than 3,700 miles during his ownership before the 911 arrived at Canepa. With its condition a perfect indicator of its previous owners, the C2S presents like a car with a quarter of the mileage. The interior shows little to no wear, obviously taken care of during the previous ownerships. The car was fully mechanically inspected as part of the "Canepa Difference" process, showing a clean bill of health due to its long and thorough prior servicing.
