Vehicle Description
1932 Ford Roadster
Old school hot rodding evolved from the mainstay it is today. In
its early beginnings, the best way for a car to go faster was to
reduce weight. That meant getting rid of anything that was
absolutely not necessary body-wise...this starts with the obvious,
hood, fenders, top and any external things like bumpers, lights
etc. Then move to the interior where you would just have a bucket
with two seats. And so, it plays out, starting from the roots of
hot rodding, in those early days in California, and all to see who
can go the fastest!
For consignment, Be Bop Fiberglass bodied stripped down to the bare
essential's creation roadster. Sans fenders, and top, nothing like
the original model B that would have come off of Henry Ford's line,
but now better, and definitely faster.
Exterior
A Be Bop Fiberglass body bathed in dark Metallic Green with shaved
handles and trunk latch. It sports a Rootlieb steel louvered hood,
steel grille shell, and a stainless grille. Flanking this are 1934
Ford 9.5" headlights bathed in beautiful chrome. No fenders here
kids, save the extra weight. A Be Bop Convertible in tan cloth
which is removable tops this radical rod off. American racing
polished torque thrust wheels in 15x7 in front and 15 x 10 on the
rear are wrapped with Goodrich 195/70 tires, and gleam on all 4
corners.
Interior
Bone ultra-leather in tuck and roll pattern, with matching door
panels, and interior wise we are in Bone and tuck and roll nirvana.
Tan wool carpeting floods the floors underneath these seats.
Fronting the dash, which is painted in Bone white, is a LeCarra
Banjo style steering wheel on a Flaming River polished steering
column. Stewart Warner gauges sit within a machine turned gauge
cluster surround. Sitting proudly in the middle of the bench is a
leather booted Genie shifter. The trunk is finished and has a step
up built in for extra storage. Consigner states that he has
electric wipers, but they are not installed. They will work well
when installed because this car has all Ron Francis wiring
throughout.
Drivetrain
A 350ci V8 resides within a painted in bone fire walled and open
side engine bay. Showing off its polished Edelbrock Intake,
Aluminum Pulleys, Holley Carburetor, an HEI distributor with
correct-a-cap, and upfront keeping everything cool is a Walker
radiator with an electric fan. Flowing out either side are
Sanderson Lime fire headers which are ceramic coated, and flow into
a 2.5" exhaust exiting out the back of this car. A Turbo 350
automatic transmission is bolted to the back.
Undercarriage
Jet black Pete and Jakes framing in pristine condition contrasts
with Bone White Floor pans. Chromed coil over rear shocks and
control arms are seen, as well as chromed dropped and drilled front
axle by Pete and Jakes. All chromed suspension parts, and front
disc brakes have faux style drum brake look covers...Fab!
A truly great build, leaving no stone unturned with regards to
attention to detail and quality. If you want to get into a truly
beautiful, and well running hot rod, this car is definitely worth
the price of admission. Let's call it a "B" ticket!
