Vehicle Description
1938 Chevrolet Master Deluxe
In 1938 The Chevrolet Motor company offered an upscale version of
the Master (AKA the HB) and The Master Deluxe (AKA the HA) sedan.
This was a popular car selling over 302,000 units, so a lot of
examples survive. First popular with Hot Rodders because of the
availability of parts, and the ease of replacing the engine, many
versions and interpretations survive today.
This example of the 1938 Master Deluxe HA Sedan has had many
modifications from the original to create a unique vehicle, while
maintaining the original overall shape, and same chassis. An
interesting color combo, along with smooth wide fenders, and a new
interior...I give you the car badged as "Street-Rod" in HA Sedan
form.
Exterior
This two toned with some rainbow striping example is bathed in
purple on the belt line and below, and yellow up top. Some pink,
teal and yellow "Pink Floyd"- esque prismatic stripes flash across
the front of the rear quarters to right to the bottom of the front
fenders. This striping can also be seen starting from around just
above the belt line and encircling the entire passenger
compartment. Steel bodied, and fiberglass fendered we have a 2-door
sedan that holds good gaps, and shows no rust. American Racing
Torque 2 chrome wheels are all around. Some snazzy LED taillights,
and sealed beam headlights shine the way.
Interior
The prismatic colored ray theme continues with a pop of the doors,
on the door panels we see purple to pink to turquoise to yellow and
back to purple tuck and rolled design, all within a tan background.
Rocky Hinge power windows and Bearclaw power locks, are noted here
as well. Scanning the inside, we see two tone leather bolsters in
tan, and cloth inserts in purple. Next to the door panels these
look fab! Vintage Air, an AM/FM/CD stereo and a nifty stainless
horizontal ribbed rounded rectangle houses the gauges and sits
within the perfect purple metal dash. The purple continues to the
floor with all purple carpets, and these provide a great contrast
to the front buckets, and rear bench. Quite colorful, and plenty of
creature comforts.
Drivetrain
A 350ci V8 with Fast Fuel Injection and a 3-speed automatic
transmission shines brightly in the engine bay. Edelbrock provides
the intake manifold and the exhaust manifold. Billet Specialties
provides the valve covers.
Undercarriage
Appearing new all straight steel in beautiful black with a shiny
Magnaflow 2-1/4" stainless system. A Walker transmission cooler has
been put on, Mustang 2 power rack and pinion steering and a Mustang
2 front clip, with a Borgeson steering pump assisting. All this on
a Fatman frame, front disc and rear drum brakes, buttoned up and
ready to roll.
A meticulously planned out car in a way that every part was made to
be sure to be the best it could be for this build. The car sounds
beautiful, runs and shifts smoothly, and is comfortable to sit in
to boot! A turnkey Hot Rod with "Street-rod "in your grandmother's
handwriting chrome badging on the grille.
