For Sale: 1968 Chevrolet C10 in Lavergne, Tennessee

Vehicle Description

Roll into the next cruise night with this 1968 Chevrolet C10 pickup, and they might just call off the "People's Choice" award for the truck before you even shut the engine off. Very nicely built, this stylish pickup has all the right ingredients for a serious working machine, and it doesn't matter if you prefer driving or showing it off, it does it all equally well.

Few trucks are as good-looking as Chevy's C10 models from the late-60s to the mid-70s. This one, with its lowered profile and period two-tone paint almost looks like the muscle car of trucks, with a working man's crouch and a ton of eyeball appeal. Of course, the bright orange-on-white paint doesn't hurt, along with a big, back window and solid bodywork to make it look its best. A lot of prep went into this truck before the paint went on, and although it's certainly not perfect, it has good gaps and smooth surfaces with a decent shine, a hallmark of quality workmanship and a big investment of someone's time. The emblems, door handles, and other add-ons were retained, so its identity remains strong yet it looks very custom at a glance. All the bright chrome trim survived or was replaced during the makeover as well, including the stainless side trim that accentuates the fender arches and makes the two-tone paint possible. The white roof and grille are nods to tradition, as is the tailgate with big block letters spelling out chrome CHEVROLET six inches high inside the woodgrain trim panel. The bed is protected by a roll-in bedliner, so this is one truck that can still do a little work around the house, making it a great choice if you can have only one toy.

While the exterior says muscle, the interior says comfort. Black vinyl upholstery gives the interior an upscale, almost formal look, and the thoroughness of the restoration is evident in the painted dash, which matches the bodywork. The bench seat is firm and comfortable for three, and matching black carpets offer a little more plushness than the usual rubber mats. The padded dash has all the original gauges intact, including an auxiliary temperature gauge attached below. That steering wheel is the 3-spoke piece you'd get in 1968, and joining it on the column is a shifter for the 3-speed manual transmission below. A rare factory GM radio is still in the dash, but because it's no longer operational, we sincerely hope that the unit that replaces it is stowed away in the glove compartment, to keep up the original appearance of the cab intact. This is the kind of truck where you can slide inside and feel instant nostalgia, and it really should stay that way.

In the horsepower department, this C10 is rocking a 350 cubic inch Chevy V8 complete with a stock intake with a newer Rochester 2-barrel carburetor up top. The block was coated in Chevy orange paint, as were the valve covers, which really make the engine pop up against the otherwise black engine bay. A set of stock exhaust manifolds control heat and have been nicely detailed and there's a big aluminum radiator up front to keep it all cool. The smooth-running small block runs great, with endless reserves of torque on tap at any speed and the custom dual exhaust system sounds awesome exhaling through a pair of tips tucked under the rear bumper. It's backed by a 3-speed manual transmission feeding a stout 12-bolt rear hanging on the stock coil spring suspension. That low stance looks exactly right, hunkered down on those gorgeous, white steel wheels adorned with Bowtie hubcaps, all of which are wrapped in 235/75/15 performance radials.

Tough, fun, and stylish, this truck offers a great vintage look and heavy-duty hardware for a very reasonable price. Call today!
