Vehicle Description
An athletic highway hunter that's been restored as needed, this
awesome Charger is the kind of clean classic that's just as
comfortable conquering miles on the backroads as it is turning
heads on the boulevard. Ready for some timeless MoPar muscle that
can be shown and enjoyed? Take a long look at this Plum Crazy
Dodge!
Wearing mostly-original metal that's been restored as needed, this
real deal Charger R/T rolls as a choice blacktop charmer that's
fully sorted and ready to cruise. The car's lovingly massaged
profile stretches correct Plum Crazy 2-stage under correct White
vinyl and correct Longitudinal Sports Stripes. And the result is
one straight, fully detailed pavement pounder that celebrates
everything great about the golden era of American muscle!
There's just something about a broad-shouldered Dodge that appeals
to pretty much everyone. Whether it's 'wow factor', a sense of
strength or simple surface detailing, this coupe's hard-edged,
modernist panels convey classic Chrysler charm via clean and
chiseled aesthetics. At the front of the car, a chrome-lined grille
hangs a bold "Charger R/T" emblem between artfully hidden
headlights and amber parking lamps. Above that grille, a pinned
hood leads the eye to factory-tint glass that's stacked behind
polished stainless trim and matte stainless wipers. At the sides of
that hood, a factory mirror reflects factory door handles, which
float between tight wheel lips, "R/T" branded scoops and a familiar
Pit Stop Fuel Filler. And at the back of the car, a black valance
frames small taillights and a second "Charger R/T" emblem above
polished exhaust tips and a guarded bumper.
Tilt this coupe's long hood and you'll find 440 cubic inches of
rowdy RB V8 that's correct to 1970. More popular than Chrysler's
famed Hemi, Dodge's stalwart 440 Magnum was designed to be the
industry's best combination of comfort, streetability and big block
performance. Behind that 375 horsepower mill, a tough A833 4-speed
twists power to a hot Dana 60 axle that's finished with a
posi-traction differential and stout, 3.54 gears. Below that proven
drivetrain, a lucid front torsion bar and rear leaf suspension has
been fully sorted all the way out to its correct drum brakes. Turns
come courtesy of factory power steering. Exhaust is handled by
free-flowing, 2.5-inch pipes, which jettison cooked dinosaurs
through an H-shaped crossover and Walker Quiet-Flow 3 mufflers. And
power meets the pavement through stainless-trimmed Chrysler Rallye
Wheels, which spin 235/60R15 BF Goodrich Radial T/As.
Counter to today's obsession with technology and convenience, it
seems old school American muscle cars only needed simple stitching,
a bit of stainless trim and essential instrumentation to strike a
perfect balance of 'instantly classic' and 'perpetually cool'. And
when you open this Charger's solid doors, you'll find a cockpit
where correct Black and White vinyl melds seamlessly with a
stylish, no-nonsense driving environment. Retro door panels frame
tall bucket seats, which float in a sea of fade-free carpet that's
protected by Charger-themed mats. At the center of that carpet, a
wood-trimmed console traces a Hurst Pistol Grip Shifter. And in
front of the driver, an ornate steering wheel laps a wood-trimmed
dash that's finished with requisite Rallye Gauges and an old school
Chrysler Solid State radio.
If you're ready to relive the golden age of Detroit in a muscle car
