Vehicle Description
1987 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe
A few items of trivia to start the presentation: quiet please!! In
1951 a group of Harley Earl's "Special Projects" crew began work on
a GM sports car. Bob McLean designed a general layout for the car
which was originally code named, "Opel." William Durant, the
founder of GM, said a wallpaper pattern he saw in a Paris hotel in
1908 inspired the bow tie logo. Supposedly, he ripped off a small
piece of it and brought it back to Detroit. Myron Scott, at the
time Chevrolet's Chief photographer, is credited with coming up
with the Corvette name, drawing from the small, fast warships of
the "Corvette" class. The Jaguar XK120 is believed to have been the
inspiration for the first Corvette.
And now we present, from way back in 1987 a morsel of Corvette
history in the flesh, a Chevrolet Corvette! Drum roll please!!!
Exterior
All clean bright White painted fiberglass in good condition. Some
dulling in the paint and some areas of overspray, however mostly
unremarkable, are noted. Dual electric controlled sport mirrors,
and a brown tinted glass roof panel is seen. Aluminum wheels in a
Chevy Corvette turbine pattern shine brightly and are wrapped in
radials and are bolted on all 4 corners.
Interior
Red leather buckets grace the inside of this Vette. A digital
driver information system is seen on the square design dash, as
well as the 4-speed automatic transmission shifter in the console.
Power windows, and power steering and a key fob remote access
button will get you into the rear storage area that has enough room
to haul "stuff". Carpeting appears in good condition, and so do
door panels.
Drivetrain
A 5.7 Liter electronic fuel injected V8 can be viewed within an
original engine bay with the flip of the hood. Bolted on back is
the 4-speed automatic transmission. Keeping everything cool is an
all-electric fan cooling system. This runs and shifts smoothly.
Undercarriage
Reasonably clean and rust free all good underneath. A performance
handling package has been added. Suspension includes a posi trac
rear, and fiberglass mono leaf spring is seen on the front and
rear.
Overall a clean Corvette that the consigner has enjoyed and is not
ready to move on. Exterior and interior that remains true to the
'Vette legacy of America's Sports Car.
