For Sale: 1972 Plymouth Road Runner in Lutz, Florida

Vehicle Description

Take the 1972 Plymouth Road Runner - one of the most menacing designs of the muscle car era - and fill the engine bay with serious 440 six-pack power. It doesn't get any better, right? Actually, yes. It's when this same car has all the right features from four-on-the-floor to an A/C interior. So check out all the great features of this well-documented power-packed Mopar.

These early second-gen Road Runners really went for the sinister side. The full front overhang makes the headlights look like the eyes of a criminal lurking in the darkness. This one even came directly from the factory with some of the best details, like the optional hood pins and that big, bad Air Grabber hood that rises up and looks like it wants to consume all the lesser cars as it charges up from behind. But there's also a brighter side to this coupe. The color looks like the 1972-correct True Blue, and it has the modern clearcoat luster to attract attention. Plus, the white painted hood goes with the Road Runner's hallmark side strobe stripe. And this would be the final year those bright chrome bumpers would hug the design so nicely. The matte black rear wing really sets off the exterior of this car!

Open the door, and you'll find one of the best interiors you will ever see on a Road Runner. Where most of these are dark-and-stark budget classics, this car features a seriously attractive white that coordinates nicely with the exterior accents. And the factory wood appearance paneling really makes sure that this budget Road Runner had quite a premium appearance. This up-market feeling continues with nice factory features, like the power windows, AM/FM radio, cruise control, and rear defrost. Even the air conditioning is blowing cold thanks to an upgrade to modern R134a. So this is quite a luxurious Road Runner! But more than just coddle you, it's a true driver's machine. The center console and dash are built around you. There's a three-spoke steering wheel with the cartoon character on the center horn, and yes, this really does go BEEP! BEEP! And that iconic pistol-grip shifter is just calling out for your right hand.

In 1972 the base V8 for these Road Runner was the 340 cubic-inch unit. That's a great motor, but it was no match for the 440 available for a lucky few machines. So another one of the big improvements to this coupe was a serious upgrade in the engine compartment to the top dog V8. The investment in performance also added a triple set of Holley dual-barrel carburetors for the street-eating Six Pack. Because this is such an awesome package they made sure to present it nicely in the engine bay. It all looks great - from the crisp hoses, to the proper air topper that announces the beastly carb setup. And it's all been given a proper service earlier this summer to keep it running and feeling good. The original four-speed manual transmission was built to take this kind of power, and it gives you complete control of the enhanced brutish symphony that comes out the dual exhaust. Plus, with power steering, meaty Cooper Cobra tires, and power brakes w/discs up front, it's easy to harness this Road Runner.

The sale come with the original window sticker, factory buildsheet, bill of sale, warranty card, owner's manual, and title documentation. This is a Mopar that's coming off of long-term ownership. So it's the well-presented, well-documented, and well-loved muscle machine you've always wanted. Call today!!!
