For Sale: 1965 Ford Mustang in Charlotte, North Carolina

Vehicle Description

More often than not, the sad thing about owning a documented collector car is that you have to lock it in a bubble and drive it with the haste of a Brass Era survivor. Because of an innate aversion to that sort of 'fine print', many enthusiasts are beginning to rethink the old purist's adage: "original is always better". And hobbyists who actually enjoy driving their vintage hardware are beginning to buy slick, fully sorted classics like this cool Shelby GT350 tribute. Featuring a killer 5.0/5-speed drivetrain that's centered in a professionally built shell, this magnificent muscle car will make you the star of your own one-car parade!

TIMELESS THOROUGHBRED

Carroll Shelby's famed GT line fueled the muscle car fire by introducing some of the coolest and most aggressive Mustang design cues ever created. And, mixing a variety of Shelby cosmetics with a killer stance, this striking Ford, built by Northwest Collision Center of Saint Petersburg, Florida, definitely stokes the flames! During its careful reboot, the car's fresh Thoroughbred body was married to Shelby-style scoops, a Shelby-style valance and a pinned Shelby-style hood. Crisp red base joined traditional Shelby stripes under slick, wet-looking clear. And that awesome profile was finished with many cool details like a Mustang GT grille, a Mustang GT roll pan, polished bullet mirrors and sequential LED taillights.

COYOTE POWER

Hoist this coupe's lightweight hood and you'll find a 5.0 liter, DOHC Coyote V8 that twists easy horsepower into miles of pavement scorching torque! At the top of the engine, a remote filter element feeds a polished Spectre air tube. At the sides of the engine, long-tube MTF headers optimize breathing. At the front of the engine, a Vintage Air Front Runner accessory drive spins a modern alternator, a modern AC compressor and modern power steering. In front of those ancillaries, a dressed aluminum radiator, fitted with two electric puller fans, provides plenty of cooling. And the svelte powerplant is extremely tidy, with "ROUSH" cam covers and a "5.0" branded cowl concealing most of its Factory Silver block.

YESTERDAY'S LOOKS, TODAY'S ATHLETICISM

Behind the car's buttery powerplant, a tough BorgWarner 5-speed, outfitted with a modern hydraulic clutch, drives a 9-inch Ford axle. That versatile drivetrain rolls on a retrofitted Heidts 4-bar suspension, which features modern coil-over-shocks. That clip pushes a Rod & Custom Motorsports front-half, which frames power rack-and-pinion steering in a 1-inch sway bar, tubular control arms and adjustable QA-1 coil-overs. At the corners of those bones, quality Wilwood calipers use drilled and slotted rotors to make quick stops an absolute cinch. At the center of the car's floors, aluminized pipes shuttle spent gases through an H-shaped crossover, Magnaflow mufflers and polished stainless tips. Power meets the pavement through Shelby-tinged American Racing alloys, which spin 225/50ZR17 Continental Extreme Contacts in front of 255/45ZR17 Continental Extreme Contacts. And this Ford's excellent build is spiced with first class details like Heidts subframe connectors, a Powermaster XS Torque starter and an E-Stopp electronic parking brake actuator.

TASTEFUL AND CLASSIC

Open the door to this awesome Mustang and you'll find a fully restored cockpit that mixes the best elements of Ford's Black vinyl interior with choice customization. Front-and-center, modern buckets join modified rear buckets in slick, "Carroll Shelby" branded leather. In front of those seats, a dual-cowl dash hangs stylish Auto Meter Phantom telemetry next to hardware for Vintage Air conditioning. Below that dash, a leather-lined console anchors a booted Hurst shifter between small power window switches and a Bluetooth-capable Pioneer CD/DVD player. That audio makes excellent use of a 1,000-watt amp, which bumps crisp Kenwood speakers that are integrated into conservatively updated door panels. And in front of the driver, a wood-rimmed Moto-Lita steering wheel laps a tilting Ididit column.

There's simply nothing like keying up a legendary muscle car, especially when it's a Shelby. Looking for some outrageously fun metal that will gain fans wherever it goes? Here's your next classic!
