Vehicle Description
This 1976 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am has the awesome classic
blackout package and hood bird we all love. But as you dig deeper,
you're going to see great upgrades, like an A/C interior and
serious 428 power under the hood.
Black is always beautiful on a T/A, and this was upgraded later in
life, so you get a nice modern clearcoat luster. And that's exactly
what you want on a '76. After all, it was the first year for the
fully integrated urethane bumpers that give this Pontiac a uniform
appearance of a more modern sports car. Plus, you get all the great
Trans Am touches from the factory body kit, to the "screaming bird"
on the hood. There's even the shaker hood, fender vents, and
full-length rear spoiler. Not only does all that silver pinstriping
match the hood bird, but it also coordinates with the upgraded
17-alloy wheels from Year One. They give you that classic Pontiac
Honeycomb look, but in a size that's ready to accept modern sports
tires.
This is a factory-black interior, and it shows quite well today as
the seats, door panels, carpeting, dash, and center console are
very nice. Even the front buckets retain their button-top
presentation. Full instrumentation was standard on Trans Ams,
including the tach/clock combination. The dials look great set in
the iconic and aggressive machine-turned instrument panel. Ahead of
that the driver gets the three-spoke sports steering wheel that
should be quite familiar to Pontiac fans. While this looks quite
stock, right down to the AM radio that's still on display, there
are also some great upgrades. For example, just below the factory
radio is a well-placed AM/FM/CD stereo. It offers the best in
modern amenities, including Bluetooth and a USB input to charge
your phone. And the air conditioning is blowing cold with modern
R134a.
Under the hood is where this one varies from stock, and it's also
what you're going to love the most. The V8 displaces 428
cubic-inches. That's a legendary size in Pontiac circles. The big
V8 inhales deeply with a four-barrel carburetor, and it makes a
sweet sound out of the dual exhaust. You also have great driving
features, like power steering, a three-speed automatic
transmission, and front disc brakes. Plus, this upholds the
tradition of a proper handling T/A with upgrades like the rear sway
bar, lowered suspension, and the grip of modern performance
tires.
This is a bold machine with all the right moves. Don't let it slip
