Vehicle Description
1986 Mercedes Benz 560SL Roadster
"Sport Leicht" or Lightweight Sport refers car capable of driving
at high speed for long periods of time. 1986 was the era of
Mercedes-Benz over engineering the vehicles they built, and this
car is no exception.
Seen here is an original version of the first year the 560SL was
available. Consigner states that repairs to the original have been
made, however the car remains true to original, and has been well
maintained with records available. This is a 2-owner car.
Exterior
Mercedes Metallic Gray is seen on the exterior and presents in fair
condition. Some chips out of the hood, and a scratching throughout
is noted. The hardtop is attached, and the convertible top which
was replaced with a new black top is installed and works
flawlessly. All chrome and bright work, as well as badging is well
preserved. A rust section is seen on the left front quarter panel,
near the rocker. Some fading of plastic parts is noted, and overall
this car is in fair to good condition.
Interior
Gray Leather covers the two front buckets, as well as the door
panels. These surfaces are presenting in good clean condition, and
slight wear is seen. Complimentary carpeting in gray shows areas of
staining and a few soiled areas in the cockpit, and the back of the
bucket storage area. A burl covered center console houses the
automatic shifter, power window switches, heating and air
conditioning, and a Becker AM/FM Radio and Cassette player. The
gray vinyl headliner is tight and tear or blemish free. The
steering wheel and dash covered in various materials in black,
burl, and gray are in good condition.
Drivetrain
A Bosch fuel injected 5.5 Liter V8 is seen in the engine bay. A
single overhead camshaft configuration driven by a duplex chain,
enables the engine to produce 227hp. Coupled with a 4-speed
automatic transmission, this car will head down the road
effortlessly, and efficiently.
Undercarriage
Plenty of clean, undercoated rust-free surfaces under here can be
seen. Double wishbones, coil springs, additional rubber springs,
and a stabilizing bar in front, and a diagonal swing axle, coil
springs, and a stabilizing bar in back, this car handles well on a
curvy road.
For the Mercedes SL enthusiast that is looking for a reliable car
built like a German Panzer, and has performance, this is your car
to put you behind the wheel of a powerful 2-seater/touring machine.
Auf Wiedersehen.
