Route 65 Sales and Classics has a very rare 1971 Mercury Comet. The
history on this car is quite unique. The car was delivered to
Zehnpfenning Mercury in 1971 as a special order 351 Windsor by the
original buyer. The original window sticker is still with the car
to this day. A mercury mechanic gave the car its initial PDI(pre
delivery inspection) tested the car to the eras standards, amassed
73 miles on it and and it was the on the market and sold to the
gentleman who special ordered it. He was the first owner. After two
years, the car was stolen and stripped of her parts. It was
recovered 9 months later and then bought buy the very same mechanic
who gave the Comet the pre delivery inspection. This was in 1974.
He has owned the car ever since and now this gem has fallen into
our inventory! The original motor was replaced with another 351
Windsor, as was the tranny, and some interior parts. It was also
painted that same year and now has 37265 original miles. There are
no mechanical issues with the car. While the paint is 45 years old
and is not pristine, it does hold a shine and is presentable. The
body shows well for its age with no glaring rust issues. See
