What a nice looking Chevelle, complete with a/c! This 1972 Malibu was built at the Arlington, TX plant in June of 1972. This was the final month of 1972 production, making this car one of the last of the classic Chevelles. It was repainted in 2019 from its original Covert Tan to a more colorful burnt orange (technically Hot Lava Metallic). It looks fantastic, especially in the sun, and is a great complement to the interior. The car also received many new exterior trim parts along with new 18” wheels wearing Nitto NT555 tires (245 front, 285 back). I think it all gives a more contemporary look to the A-body lines.
The engine is the original L65 350ci 2-barrel setup with the matching VIN stamp and correct suffix code. The transmission is a TH350 automatic feeding a 10-bolt rear end. It also has power steering and a rebuilt suspension. Note this Chevelle is not a brash SS big block, but rather a more refined Malibu that really has a nice ride, very smooth and comfortable.
The interior is finished in Antique Light Covert Elk which gives an elegant look and blends perfectly with the exterior. It appears original and is in remarkable condition. There is seating for six with the front bench seat. There is an aftermarket set of gauges under the dash along with an aftermarket stereo. Everything else is factory including the working air conditioning.
The 70-72 Chevelles are some of the most popular cars from the era, and for good reason. They have a great look, plenty of room, and are easy to maintain. And while there are plenty of clapped out SS-wannabes on the market, this Malibu is not one of them. It is a quality car you can enjoy driving anywhere.
