Vehicle Description

History
Porsche Factory Kardex shows build on September 5, 1961 as a Super 90 Single Grill D’Ieteren Roadster. Imported by Max Hoffman Motors Corporation in New York and sold to first owner Thomas W. Smith of Rochester, N.Y. Body work to prepare and paint as a top rate 356 historic race car done by Emory Motorsports in Oregon in 2007 for then owner Tom Kinsman. Kinsman raced the car during 2008-09. Then selling to Mike Zubko of Seattle who raced the car from 2010-19. During Mike’s nearly decade ownership the car was looked after by Mark Eskuche of Ecurie Engineering, with shops in Wisconsin and Florida, when racing in the Midwest and East Coast. Most recent complete repaint in 2019 by Conrad Spens Automotive. Additional race service and support by Vintage Racing Service (Stratford, Conn.) and Vintage Racing Motors (Redmond, Wash.).

Condition
Beautifully turned out in yellow with white fender stripes following most recent complete repaint in 2019 by Conrad Spens Automotive. Has aero dynamic head fairing and passenger Tonneau cover. An outside fuel filler, a lightweight aluminum louvered engine lid. Modern race seat, Schroth racing belts (2018), Sparco quick disconnect steering wheel, roll bar, fire system and fuel cell. The best of everything “go fast,” “be safe,” “look good,” Porsche 356.

Suspension
Best Ecurie set up with Wright race spindles, boxed in trailing arms, upgraded link pins and bolts, Boge front shocks, adjustable front sway bar, 26mm short rear torsion bars, QA1 adjustable rear shocks.

Engine
2018 Ecurie rebuild with four hours’ time on it. 616/912 case, ACE 356 cylinder heads, high compression pistons, cylinders, Scat super lightweight crankshaft, Carrillo rods, Elgin 7805 camshaft, ACE 356 Aluminum Deep Sump Extension, Ecurie custom race exhaust, Solex 40P11 carburetors. Producing 150 HP on the dyno.

Transmission
741 fully rebuilt by Ecurie in 2018. Has ZF limited slip, 7/31 ring and pinion, gears 2-A (1.94), 3-D (1.47), 3-B (1.13), 4-A (0.96), gear charts, rebuild receipts. Re-positioned short shifter.

Brakes
4-wheel discs, all calipers rebuilt in 2018. Brake bias adjuster. Front brake ducting.

Wheels
6×15 Fuchs with 205/60/15 Hoosier tires.

Of Note
Emory Motorsports and Ecurie Engineering are two of the “best” Porsche 356 race shops in the country. Always racing at the front, competitively and finishing races. This is a great example of a well-prepared 356 historic racing car.

SVRA, SCCA and SOVREN logbooks. Years of detailed race prep and restorations receipts and photographs. Trackside log of events, hours, lap times, results.
