Vehicle Description
New for 1987 was a power increase to keep the Supra competitive in
the market. Using an in-house turbo and an air-to-air intercooler,
the new 7M-GTE engine boosts power by 15%, to 230hp at 6,000 rpm.
Torque is up more than 30%, to 246 ft/lbs at 4,000 rpm when
compared to the naturally aspirated engine. In addition, the Supra
Turbo features a sport package as standard equipment. The package
includes a limited-slip differential, headlamp washers and the
Toyota Electronically Modulated Suspension. The TEMS system
electronically adjusts the valving of the gas-filled shock
absorbers among soft, medium and hard settings as needed; the
driver influences its decisions by selecting either the "normal" or
the "sport" suspension program. This example is also optioned with
a sport roof and a 5-speed manual transmission. The clean CARFAX
history shows it's been in Washington and California its entire
life.
