Vehicle Description
GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present this spectacular 1983 Ferrari
308 GTS Quattrovalvole for your consideration. The Ferrari 308 is
one of the most recognizable and desirable cars ever produced, this
example is a Ferrari 308 GTS Quattrovalvole. The "quattrovalvole"
part of the name referrers to 4 valves per cylinder giving the car
increased horsepower, higher refinement and overall performance
than the earlier cars. All 308's were powered by a Ferrari V8, but
the Quattrovalvole got an increase in power to 230 horsepower.
Mated to the Ferrari V8 is a 5-speed manual transmission that
shifts through all gears smoothly and with ease. One of the more
iconic features of this car is the gated shifter that makes
extremely satisfying clicks as you roll through the gears.
Designed by Leonardo Fioravanti at Pininfarina the Ferrari 308 has
beautiful lines that can be appreciated by everyone. The car
features a classic Rosso Corsa red exterior paint with black grills
and a black GTS removable roof. The Quattrovalvole models received
extra louvers in the front nose of the car that adds to the overall
presence and beauty of this classic exotic. The 5 spoke Ferrari
wheels have been set up with new Michelin TRX tires and the spare
tire is present.
Complementing the striking red exterior, the interior is a clean
black Nero leather. The interior shows minimal wear and all
interior components work as they should. The example offered here
has air conditioning which was an option that could be ordered from
the factory. The original analog clock inside can be found in
working condition on the inside of this gorgeous Ferrari.
This example was built in March of 1983 and was recently acquired
from an owner of 7 years out of Long Boat Key Florida. In April of
2019, a complete timing belt kit including a new timing belt,
alternator belt, water pump belt, both air and oil filter, and cam
belt pulley was purchased from RICAMBI America and professionally
installed. At the time of service, the transmission fluid was
flushed and replaced with Redline 75W90 limited-slip synthetic gear
oil.
The 1983 Ferrari 308 GTS Quattrovalvole offered here comes with the
original tool kit, original jack, original factory smog pump, spare
tire, and owners manual. The sound of the Ferrari V8 opening up is
like nothing else on the road today. This example is in truly great
condition and drives straight and true without any issues.
When the Ferrari 308 hit the automotive scene in 1975 there was
much fanfare around the car as it was highly regarded as a worthy
successor of the much loved Dino 246 and its styling is still
considered one of the most beautiful cars ever built. According to
Sergio Pininfarina, the inspirations for the styling came from the
Dino Berlinetta Speciale that was exhibited in Paris in 1965. Road
testers and enthusiasts alike hailed the refined performance the
car had to offer. Paul Frere summed it up as he began his 1976 Road
and Track review "Dino 246 fans, cheer up! There is a worthy 2 seat
successor to your favorite car. And it's even better, faster,
quieter and more comfortable."
Ferrari is the most revered name in international motoring and with
values on all Ferrari's skyrocketing in the international market.
