Vehicle Description
2006 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible
In 1951, a group of Harley Earl's "Special Projects" crew began
work on a GM sports car. Bob McLean designed a general layout for
the car which was originally code named, "Opel." William Durant,
the founder of GM, said a wallpaper pattern he saw in a Paris hotel
in 1928 inspired the bow tie logo. Supposedly, he ripped off a
small piece of it and brought it back to Detroit. Myron Scott, at
the time Chevrolet's Chief photographer, is credited with coming up
with the Corvette name, drawing from the small, fast warships of
the "Corvette" class.
Fast forward to 2006 and this C6 version putting out 400hp and has
the first exposed headlights since 1962. From Bowling Green, this
Corvette presents in very good condition with a mere consigner
stated 26,103 miles. This car is a convertible and drives
smoothly.
Exterior
Very nice Machine Silver Metallic covers the exterior of this open
headlight fiberglass car. A black convertible top also in good
condition can be raised and lowered with ease automatically. 5
spoke polished wheels are noted all around, and some bling from the
rear in the form of dual exhausts peeking out from the center
rear.
Interior
With a nicely contrasting color to the Metallic Silver exterior, we
are met with red leather buckets, and matching red leather door
panels. Tastefully mixed with dark vinyl the dash shows a hint of
the red at the bottom, and mixes in red and gray for the center
console. Seat heaters, climate control, a single disc CD player
with the standard AM/FM/radio, anti-skid button mode, power
windows, power locks and power seats with 2 position memory, make
this red interior even more spicy! A note about the fiberglass
cowling covering the convertible top as well as the flying dual
flags on a vertical panel directly under it.....go back to the late
1950's and early 1960's Corvettes, and note this very same style
setup...shall we say back to the future?? One more note about the
black carpeting covering the floor...beautiful!
Drivetrain
A 6.2 Liter V8 with electronic fuel injection can be seen
emblazoned with LS2 logos and is attached to a 6-speed manual
transmission.
Undercarriage
With the use of many lightweight materials, we see no corrosion, no
surface rust, and all structurally sound framing and floorpans.
4-wheel power disc brakes are seen, and this C6's suspension
consists of independent unequal-length double wishbones with
transverse fiberglass mono-leaf springs.
With its beautiful red leather interior mating with the Metallic
Silver exterior, it does not get any better than this with the
color combination. The low mileage is an attraction, as well as a
clean overall engine bay, and well performing engine and
transmission, this open headlamp version of the C6 is a turnkey
sports car awaiting action.
