SS 283! This car was put through a Frame Off Restoration 20 years
ago and has only been driven about 15k miles since that
restoration! The frame was powder coated in light blue and all new
body bushings and all new suspension and steering components were
installed at that time. A new stainless steel gas tank was also
installed as well as all new brake and fuel lines. The engine was
completely machined and rebuilt and a performance camshaft was
installed along with an aftermarket 4 barrel intake manifold,
Holley 650 Double Pumper Carburetor, Powder Coated Corvette Rams
Head Exhaust Manifolds and 2 � inch Stainless Dual Exhaust with
Flowmaster Mufflers. The original 2 speed Powerglide transmission
was replaced with a brand new TCI Turbo 350 3 Speed Automatic
Transmission. The trans shifts VERY Firmly!! The rear axle was
rebuilt and upgraded to a 4.11 ratio Posi-traction Rear!! The car
belonged to a close friend of mine who has since passed away and
has been stored outside at my house for the last 5 years. It had
been stored outside at his house since he purchased the car in
1999. Since it had been stored outside for all of the last 20 years
the weather took its toll on the body and paint. It will need some
rust repair and a total repaint but the bottom of the car is still
almost like new. The floor pans had been powder coated in gloss
black during its restoration and even after 20 years they are still
shiny black and solid. The trunk floor is solid but does have some
scaling rust on the inside due to a trunk seal leak. As you can see
in the pictures nearly all of the work needed to make this car a
TOP SHOW WINNER again is Exterior Cosmetic Repairs and a little
Interior work. The black interior was restored at the same time as
the rest of the car but the seats were all re-upholstered in 2009
and are still very firm and comfortable and still look nearly as
new!! The carpets have faded and the chrome dash bezel needs to be
replaced or re-chromed and the padded dash top has begun to warp
due to sun damage but it's not cracked. The headliner and visors
are still in excellent shape. THIS IS A FACTORY IMPALA SS WITH ITS
NUMBERS MATCHING ENGINE AND IS ALSO A FACTORY A/C CAR!!! All of the
A/C components are still in-place but the compressor is locked up
so the belt was removed. The Brakes all work as they should and the
Master Cylinder is BRAND NEW!! The car starts, runs, drives and
steers. I have driven it short distances and it drives fine. The
tires are 20 years old so they should be replaced before driving
any distance!! The one exception to this is the right front tire. I
had to replace that tire with a BRAND NEW TIRE because the 20 year
old tire began to separate thus making the car un-driveable. With
the exception of the radio all of the electrics and lights seem to
work as they should. Even the clock works!! All of the chrome trim,
mouldings and grill are in excellent condition!! The car comes with
a mostly complete extra set of exterior chrome trim that will be in
the trunk. This car has won several trophies over the years that my
friend owned it including some from the Cruisin Ocean City events
that he and I attended most of the 20 years that he had owned this
car. If you are looking for a mechanically sound project car that
just needs cosmetics to bring back to SHOW Quality then don't miss
