Vehicle Description
This 1969 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible is an outstanding
representative of the model in its sweeping, third generation form.
Wearing its original colors both inside and out and harboring a
signature smooth running small block under its lengthy hood, it's
also an outstanding driver and, armed with loads of curb appeal, is
sure to demand attention wherever it may roam.
The sheer longevity of these third generation 'Vettes is a
testimony to just how inspired their original design really was.
While even before the generation debuted the model had long since
established itself as a favorite with performance minded car
buyers, Chevy went big on its redesign, basing a large portion of
its modernization on the revolutionary Mako II concept cars that
had wowed audiences on the car show circuit years before. Just a
quick lap around the car will reveal the dramatic changes that set
it apart from its predecessors - the lengthened wheelbase and hood
area, the flowing fenders and the flush door handles are most
notable. The Fathom Green paint draped over the exterior of this
'69 is its original shade and makes a very effective presentation,
amplified by the new chrome bumpers at both ends and a collection
of body trim that's in consistently good shape. For motoring under
darkening skies, you'll have a couple of options, as both the black
vinyl convertible top and the color matched accessory hard top are
in fine form and fit nicely.
Climb inside and you'll be surrounded by a black vinyl interior
that remains in factory configuration and shows minimal wear on
everything from the pair of high backed bucket seats to the dash
panel, with its customary extensive assortment of clear, functional
gauges lodged just below a dash pad with no splits or tears in
sight. Sitting between the buckets is a fresh-looking center
console with a compartment to provide some extra interior storage
space and it positions the shifter within easy reach due to its
slight incline. To each side, the door panels are in great shape,
clinging tightly to their steel frames and carrying a collection of
hardware that appears to have been added not long ago. Below, the
carpeting shows minimal wear and remains well-fitted. The
Corvette's notchback design might have done away with a traditional
trunk area, but there's some storage space behind the buckets to
accommodate luggage for weekend getaways.
Raise the hood and you'll find a 327 cubic inch V8 residing in the
engine bay. It's not only a period correct engine, but likely the
vintage small block most closely associated with the Chevy brand.
Outfitted with a 4-barrel carb and sparked by a new ignition
system, the powerplant still wears its proper chrome air cleaner
and valve covers and teams with a 4-speed manual transmission that
shifts flawlessly and with seamless clutch engagement to create
just the right "hands on" driving experience a performance-centric
classic like this deserves. Power disc brakes at all four corners
bring prompt, fade resistant stops, while power steering makes this
low-slung corner carver easy to maneuver on its set of 15" stock
wheels outfitted with BF Goodrich T/A radials.
It's pretty hard to beat the sheer magnetism of a vintage 'Vette
and, with its entire drivetrain in top form, this 1969 Chevrolet
Corvette Convertible also offers the promise of exhilarating open
air driving that makes it a blast to drive. Call today!
