Fox-body Mustangs were built from the 1979 through 1993 model
years. Through all those years, the cars stayed true to their Pony
Car roots. The top engines were V-8s. They were available in coupe,
hatch and convertible body styles. They were rear-wheel drive. A
total of 2.6 million Fox-bodies were built. Early Fox-bodies were
built with a variety of V-8, V-6, 4 cylinder engines, and even a
straight-6. They saw use of the Cobra and GT names and the SVO
turbo option. The 1987 to 1993 models focused on improving the
performance of the 5.0L V-8.* *Benjamin Hunting, Buying a Fox-body
