Vehicle Description
1970 Plymouth Cuda
Restomod (restoration + modern parts/technology) draws from all the
amazing advancements in automobile technology over the past 40 plus
years to enhance the performance, comfort and safety of the classic
car. A restomod car has the timeless appearance of the original,
but the outdated guts of the car have been replaced with the more
modern, high-performance parts of today. You achieve the same great
look, but your vintage car will be revved up with all the latest
bells and whistles to create a much better ride for the owner.
A 'Cuda resto-mod, with plenty of upgrades in power, comfort and
overall looks. Countless hours have put into this car, and no
stones were left unturned during the rebuild. We now have a
beautiful turn the key, hold your ears, and try to keep the smoke
away from you that is produced from the tires spinning
Barracuda!
Exterior
With new floor pans, quarters, trunk floor inner rear fenders and
radiator yoke, and other parts straightened, and rust remediated if
needed, this straight paneled steel car was sprayed with
Prizmatique Gold and has an off white vinyl roof for contrast. Also
adding contrast is the white HEMI stripe on each of the rear
quarters. Black Prizmatique is sprayed on the rear panel and one
can definitely tell when the brakes are applied with the black
background. Noted detail is the fender wells have the Gold as well.
All stainless steel brite-work has been polished to perfection, and
the chromed bumpers, and headlight bezels, door handles and any
badging shine brightly against the gold. 20" KMC polished chrome
wheels are wrapped with Falken low profile tires all around.
Interior
Original two-tone leather off-white and tan with gold piping,
covers all the seats in the passenger compartment. Even the trunk
has meticulous attention to detail as it is wrapped with two tone
leather, then carpeted. The battery is seen here too, nestled
against the passenger side trunk panel. All glass has been removed
and replaced with new. Custom two toned door skins with gold
piping, and monogrammed 'CUDA are seen with a swing open of the
door. A totally custom dash with Auto Meter brushed stainless
bezels and white field gauges are imbedded and plenty of rocker
switches run various operations. A Lokar digital shifter is within
a custom fabricated gold painted center console. An Ididit chrome
and leather steering wheel, that is adjustable, fronts the custom
dash. Custom "CUDA floor mats in pristine condition and a perfectly
tight fitted headliner finish off the passenger compartment.
Drivetrain
A built from scratch (NON-CRATE) 528 HEMI MOPAR engine by Bob
George Racing, topped by a Dominator Model 4500 Carburetor feeds
air and fossils to the mill via a high output fuel pump. An MSD
Distributor and electronic ignition puts plenty of spark to the
Hemi chambers. Spent gases are evacuated quickly by the 3" exhaust
from the headers, and out the rectangular, in body, chromed trimmed
exhaust tips. A 727 TCI Automatic transmission puts power to a 8.75
MOPAR rear which was a total rebuild. Keeping all this cool, is a
wizard aluminum radiator with 4 fans.
Undercarriage
With near perfect appearance completely restored, it now sports all
new re-bushed suspension, rear springs replaced with original
numbered springs, Wilwood 4-wheel disc brakes, and we can see a
reinforced chassis to placate the high torque engine.
Why spend countless hours on some project car that you picked up
for a song, toiling with obtaining parts, time sanding and filing,
planning and fabricating an interior, when you can hop in this car
push the start switch, and have your hair practically blown off
just idling. This extremely loud and powerful resto-mod 'Cuda is
really the cat's nutz! "You'd have me down to my knees, Wouldn't
you, Barra-Cuda?"
