Vehicle Description
2007 Jaguar X-Type Station Wagon
Yes, for a few years there, Jaguar made a station wagon. But only a
few. The X-Type was sold from 2002 to 2008, although it was clearly
not going to be the sales champ Ford (Jaguars owner at the time)
had hoped for by about 2004. The wagon came out in 2005, perhaps in
some vain attempt to scare up more sales. This marks the only time
in the recent history of automotive sales in North America that
someone thought rolling out a wagon would mean more sales.
This X-type Jaguar is as competitively priced as it is rare. Not
too many were produced, as Jaguar has long been associated with
sports cars, fine burl, upscale performance and luxury, and high
option automobiles, and this grocery getter/soccer mom Jag does not
disappoint!
Exterior
A two stage Shadow Gray covers the exterior of this wagon. Straight
steel panels, and good gaps are noted and a smattering of stainless
steel, all dressed up and polished adorns this car on the exterior.
Oval headlights with no bezel are framed by the grille, and hood,
and create beautiful undulation and movement in the front of the
car...typical Jaguar style! Nice aluminum Jag logo wheels are seen
on all 4 corners.
Interior
Opening any of the 4 doors, we are met with dark gray leather
heaven. And if this is not enough, throw in some beautiful Walnut
burl panels on the dash, and even intermixing on the steering wheel
and the door panels. Just quintessential Jaguar. As expected, we
see plenty of convenience options like power windows, power seats,
climate control, cruise control, a sunroof, voice activation, and
full navigation screen. The automatic shifter can be moved to the
left and a "tiptronic" transmission engaged just if you decide to
get a little feisty on your way home from the soccer game.
Drivetrain
A spicy 3.0 Liter V6 with EFI is attached to a Jatco JF506E 5-speed
automatic transmission. As noted above there is a tiptronic
mode.
Undercarriage
Very clean and rust free (save for surface rust on steel parts)
with no areas of concern under here!
For the suburbia show of success, not just a sports car, but why
not a sport wagon. This car was the pre cursor to the now "Hot
Hatch", a nice, powerful, luxurious, and somewhat expensive car to
go from A to B but do it in style with cargo area. Belt the kids in
and find a winding road to put a smile on your face, then stop at
the store on your way home, to pick up a gallon of 2 percent!
