For Sale: 1987 Chevrolet Silverado in Mooresville, North Carolina

Vehicle Description

The "square body Chevy" is one of the best and most popular GM truck platforms ever produced. Introduced as the replacement for the also classic 1967-1972 generation, the square body had a lot to live up to! Though consumers may have been initially suspicious, the square body quickly proved itself a worthy replacement. Both the Chevyrolet and GMC versions of these trucks are sought after today both as a collector vehicle and a reliable workhorse. Those that survived use as an industrial vehicle, like this 1987 Silverado long bed, are a rare example and certainly a hot commodity these days! Perhaps most notably, 1987 was the end of the square body pickup, as the GMT400 was introduced as a replacement in 1988.

This is a bone stock, unmolested, un-restored 1987 Silverado square body. Offered in the classic and eye-catching color combination of red and white on red, this pickup has survived 32 years without being abused, heavily modified, or otherwise altered from stock configuration. Tasteful aftermarket upgrades include a fiberglass tonneau cover and dual exhaust. Aside from those upgrades, this truck is basically exactly how it rolled off the lot back in the '80s! Even the paint and wheels are in well-preserved original condition. Though you may find minor wear and scratches in the paint finish, this can certainly be expected on an original vehicle this old. The exterior is in overall great condition, and needs nothing to be enjoyed as-is.

The interior, much like the rest of the truck, is almost all original minus replacement of various wear items over the years. It even has the original radio seated in an un-cut all original dash! For being original, the interior is in very impressive condition showing only minor wear on the seat. If you're looking for a time machine back to the late 1980s, this just might be your ride!

Under the hood is believed to be the original 5.0 liter Chevrolet V8. By 1987, these puppies were TBI rather than carbureted. When dialed in appropriately, TBI systems are more reliable than carburetors and help to make vehicles like this easy to drive on a daily basis so should you choose. The engine runs great and feels strong. Hooked up to a 700R4 automatic transmission, this truck would be a great daily driver or around town errand runner.

This is the most "modern" factory square body built, with the GMT400 phasing it out for 1988. Unmolested, un-restored examples like this are getting harder and harder to find! This truck won't last long finished in this dynamite color combo, so be sure to add this to your collection.
