Vehicle Description
Looking for a rugged and surefooted workhorse offering plenty of
room, with some vintage appeal thrown in to set it apart from the
current sea of SUVs roaming the highway? This 1990 Chevrolet
Suburban 4x4 has it covered. From all indications, it's been well
treated over its lifetime and its very solid body recently received
a freshening up, so it's both running and looking great.
This Chevy's sharp original configuration combines with some
well-chosen add-ons to bring about a pleasing end result. Suburbans
have been around for 80 plus years, but the model really came into
its own once the seventh generation, of which this '90 is a member,
emerged. Small wonder that this generation was kept largely intact
for a full 19 years, far more than any of the Suburban's others,
before or since. Its rugged appearance is amplified by a slightly
elevated stance - just enough to show that some aftermarket work
has been added, without going so far as to make the ride too harsh
- as well as a set of substantially sized steel wheels that wear
Chevy branded centers. A recent trip to the paint booth has
everything looking nice and fresh - the black body with silver
running along the lower doors and rocker panels is a great color
combo and its slick texture brings out the best in the shade. The
cabin glass has a slight tint to it and is surrounded by
still-fresh seals and weatherstripping. The consistent gaps
surrounding the hood and doors, including the ambulance-style doors
in back, are among several indications that this Chevy greets the
present in straight and solid shape.
The interior has yet to see any refurbishment, but is in very
strong overall condition. This Suburban offers an abundance of
seating- a pair of front buckets, a split bench just behind and a
sideways mounted additional bench toward the back - and all of it
still looks pretty darned good. There's no real damage to be found
and the application of some common upholstery cleaner will
definitely elevate the overall appearance inside. Up front, while
the dash area may show a few of the expected cracks from both sun
exposure and the mere passage of time, its replacement part is
readily available and easy to install and all of the gauges inside
the burlwood panel of the instrument cluster still work just as
intended. The air conditioning was recently serviced and is in top
form to cool this substantial cabin, and it uses modern 134a
refrigerant.
The well-maintained engine compartment suggests that this vintage
SUV has received proper attention over the years and its rock-solid
driving condition confirms it. The 350 cubic inch V8 under the
hood, fed by throttle body fuel injection, is in great shape - it
starts right up with the turn of a key and still pulls with
conviction, teaming with a 4-speed automatic transmission that
shifts with slip-free precision. When the call of rugged terrain
beckons, the featured 4-wheel drive feature is in good working
order and this Chevy's appreciable ground clearance helps make the
most of it. Power steering makes this sizable vehicle easy to
navigate, while power brakes - with discs up front - bring the set
of eye-catching 20" wheels wearing 33" mud terrain tires that look
brand new to reliable stops in all conditions. Because any 4-wheel
drive vehicle has the tendency to invite overly exuberant driving,
the state of the undercarriage is always a consideration and this
one is really solid.
With its extra sharp vintage appearance combining with a smoothly
functioning drivetrain, this 1990 Chevrolet Suburban 4x4 offers and
lot of fun at a very attainable price. Call today!
