For Sale: 1968 Chevrolet Camaro in Volo, Illinois

Vehicle Description

12,940 actual miles! Unbelievable documentation. Jerry MacNeish certified. Original drivetrain.
It must be one of the best documented Z-28s in the country. Here is what we have:
-Original order form, the first owner ordered the car how he wanted it.
-Original Protect-o-plate. Has 1st owner's info, motor, trans and rear #s.
-Original Invoice
-Photo of the car dated May 1968, 2 months old.
-Signed, notarized affidavit from first owner verifying it has original drivetrain and the miles were actual and less then 11,100 when he sold it in 1977. (He thinks it was around 9,000 miles). It never left town unless on a trailer to go to a drag strip.
-Signed, notarized affidavit from 2nd owner saying it has it's original drivetrain and the actual miles were still around 11,100 miles when he sold it in 1988.
-Owner history until present.
-Jerry MacNeish certified. He says it is a real Z-28 that falls into original unrestored class with one repaint and engine compartment detail. Trim tag is original and the color is rare.

EXTERIOR: Rare Sea Frost green color. Has been repainted once, it is a show quality fabulous job. I did not notice any flaws. It is polished like glass, cant feel the stripes. Body is all straight, all clean dry metal. The panels fit nice. All the glass, chrome, taillights look great. Has correct antenna. Has reproduction Wide Tread GT Goodyear tires. Rally wheels are in excellent shape.

INTERIOR: The interior appears to be in all original condition and it's amazing at how nice it really is. The upholstery is excellent, the door panels are not warped, the headliner does not have mouse holes, the dash pad is not cracked. The entire instrument area is excellent- the chrome outlines, lenses, knobs, vents, heater levers, radio etc. Console is excellent, has factory gauges and original square handle Muncie shifter. Has optional Z-23 special interior which includes woodgrain trim, deluxe wheel and pedal trim. Inside the glove box it has the tire pressure decal which is for a 15 inch wheel, which only came on the Z-28. Original seat belts are in excellent condition. I believe the carpet is even original.

ENGINE COMPARTMENT: It's detailed to factory specs. It even has a complete pollution system all his hooked up and working. It has it's original born with engine, vin is a restamp because it was decked when original owner rebuilt the motor. Has correct manifolds, deep groove pulleys, the double bracket on the alternator, spark plug shields etc. It now has reproduction GM hoses, clamps, spring clamp battery cables, plug wires. Correct clutch fan and shroud. It appears like it did when it left the factory.

TRUNK COMPARTMENT: All clean metal with a nice coat of spatter paint. Looks like it may have original mat. Has jack & spare. Trunk lid and jamb are painted real nice. Has jacking decal and weatherstrip.

UNDERSIDE: Vin # matched M-21 4-speed trans. Original 12 bolt 4.10 posi rear. Up front the steering and suspension components are in excellent condition. Has correct spiral shocks. Disc brakes in front. Bottom of the motor is spotless, starter looks new. Trans is spotless. In back it has correct spiral shocks, e-brake is hooked up. Has correct replacement exhaust with transverse muffler. Floors look very clean. The underside has been cleaned and touched up with black paint.

This Z is in exceptional condition. The unbelievable documentation really sets this apart from the others. We even have the phone numbers of most the owners including the first two. This is an investment grade car. Z-28s were factory made race cars. That's what the first owner did, he raced it. That is why the miles are so low. 10 years later when the 2nd owner bought it, he felt this special car was worth preserving and every owner after felt the same. Here is a rare opportunity.

I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my professional impression of the vehicle.
Our salesmen are happy to assist with descriptions and making sure your questions are answered. One great suggestion is letting us do a walk around video that explains the car's condition in detail.
