Vehicle Description

1970 was the pinnacle of the American muscle car movement. Too much performance just wasn't enough, and user friendliness was exchanged for a healthy combination of style, attitude and danger. Just take a look at this numbers-matching, fully documented Chevelle Super Sport, a car that wraps butch styling around serious big block power and the kind of hardware that's become the stuff of legend. With its ample and inexpensive parts supply, ease of ownership and classic, all-American appeal, THIS is the top dog muscle car that every octane-fueled gearhead wants to park in their garage. And now, thanks to your like-minded friends at RK Motors Charlotte, you can drive one home in better-than-new condition! Want to be admired by your neighbors, envied by your car club, and loathed by the kid at the local stoplight, pick up the phone and pick up your new Chevelle!

UNFATHOMABLE APPEAL

Sold through Lexington, North Carolina's Davis Chevrolet, and residing in the Tarheel State ever since, this stunning Super Sport is the beneficiary of an acute, body-off restoration. That careful rebuild revolved around all-original sheetmetal, which resulted in a super straight profile. That clean presentation was layered in correct Fathom Blue base, accented with correct Classic White stripes and sealed in glossy clear. And today, this top dog coupe rolls as one spectacular piece of iconic American muscle that's detailed to award-winning standards.

Many enthusiasts believe the '70 Chevelle introduced a host of excellent refinements that transformed the 'good' design of Chevrolet's 1969 model into something 'great'. At the front of this vivid classic, a familiar crossbar grille hangs a prominent "SS" emblem between authentic T3 headlights, a small "CHEVELLE" script and a broad chrome bumper. At the sides of that bumper, tasteful "SS396" badges combine with straight wheel frames and traditional door handles to add visual detail to the car's liquid-smooth profile. Above that profile, a functional Cowl Induction Hood anchors requisite lanyards in front of clean glass and small mirrors. And at the back of the car, a second chrome bumper centers a black Super Sport inlay between clear tail lamps, a classy "Chevelle by Chevrolet" script and spotless stainless exhaust tips.

NUMBERS-MATCHING MOTIVATION

Pushing 350 horsepower straight from the factory, this Super Sport's ferocious Turbo-Jet V8 fronts a correct 3969854 casting number with a correct "CTW" suffix stamp and a matching 177486 partial VIN. That aesthetically accurate big block spins an original Turbo-Hydramatic 400 3-speed that reflects a matching 177486 partial VIN opposite a correct "70-CF" assembly tag. That transmission funnels power to a tagged 12-bolt axle, which is branded with a correct "CCW" build stamp. That killer drivetrain rolls on a spotless F41 Special Performance Suspension, which, per the factory, is equipped with thicker coils, heavy duty shocks, mandatory sway bars, boxed rear control arms and beefy cross braces. At the edges of that suspension, correct power steering combines with correct power front disc and rear drum brakes to provide greatly improved handling. Fried dinosaurs travel through a fresh, true-dual exhaust system that's complete with Walker Quiet-Flow 3 mufflers. And torque meets the pavement through 14-inch Super Sport wheels, which twist old school F70-14 Goodyear Custom Wide Treads around correct SS center caps.

DOES IT GET ANY BETTER THAN IVORY?

Featuring a host of new components, and decked in correct Ivory vinyl, this Chevelle's professionally restored interior is inviting and comfortable. Its slick bucket seats are firm to the touch, showing no signs of detrimental wear and tear. In front of those seats, a crack-free dash plants Deluxe Gauges next to an old school AM/FM radio. Below that dash, clean carpet centers a full console and correct horseshoe shifter between bright Fisher sills, fade-free side panels and heavy duty floor mats. And in front of the driver, an "SS" branded steering wheel keeps everything pointed straight.

This fully documented Chevy is the total package! Wrapping a choice restoration around a numbers-matching drivetrain and timless blue and white aesthetics, it was and still remains an excellent example of 'bragging rights' muscle. Ready to add some first-class firepower to your automotive arsenal? Check out this spectacular Chevelle Super Sport!
