The first generation of Chevrolet's iconic full-size car was
introduced in 1950 and by 1953 the Bel Air name was reserved for
premium trim packages on several models. This particular 2-door
sedan is powered by an 235 cu in inline 6-cylinder engine mated to
a 2-speed Powerglide automatic transmission. Features of the new
Bel Air included chrome side moldings on the rear fender bulge,
curved one-piece windshield, chrome interior trim (deluxe steering
wheel, dashboard, etc.), carpeting, full wheel covers, and
independent front suspension. In 1954 the Bel Air went virtually
unchanged, save for a revised grille and taillights. Under the
hood, the engine underwent internal changes to allow for a
full-flow oil filtration system. This vehicle has spent the last
couple of decades in Florida and has the receipts to back it up,
including: engine rebuild (Aug '96), exhaust replacement (Sep '96)
and radiator re-coring (May '96). Classics & Custom Auto is an
