For Sale: 1966 Chevrolet Nova in Morgantown, Pennsylvania

Vehicle Description

1966 Chevrolet Nova

Chevrolet designer Clare MacKichan recalled about creating the Chevy II: "There was no time for experimentation or doodling around with new ideas from either the engineers or from us in design; And it had to be a basic-type car." "I think that was the quickest program we ever did at any time," he continued. "We worked night and day on that car, and it didn't take very long to run it through our shop because we had a deadline." And that's what made the Chevy II one of the fastest new-car development programs in GM history - just 18 months after the designers got the green light, the first production Chevy II rolled off the Willow Run, Michigan, assembly line in August 1961, in time for its September 29 introduction. Unlike the Corvair, the 1962 Chevy II was deliberately never intended to be revolutionary in concept or execution; its mission was to give Chevrolet buyers a simple, back-to-the-basics compact car. When he announced the Chevy II to the press, Chevrolet General Manager Ed Cole described the car as offering "maximum functionalism with thrift."

Starting out life as a bench seater, automatic shift on the column in Fawn Tan with Fawn interior, well you get it, a family car, now rebuilt to go and show wild!

Exterior
With the body straightened, rust repaired, epoxy primed, then painted base coat then clear coat, then the entire car was wet sanded and buffed for a flat reflective mirror like finish. The car is now metallic blue and has a fitted 2" cowl hood with hand painted silver pin striping. New glass, bumpers, headlight bezels, trim and seals were installed, and now present near perfect. Chromed Cragar SS 5-spoke wheels are installed all around.

Interior
Totally redone with Dynamat sound deadening spray, a custom dash to match exterior paint, Autometer analog speedo and digital odometer, a custom console with a molded in trans gauge, shift lever with LED indicator, Autosound radio, and speakers. Also, Vintage air, a new dash pad, and headliner, and new door panels with power windows. Brand new custom pedals, headliner and visors which are showroom perfect. Backs of seats were also sprayed to match exterior as are upper part of interior doors.

Drivetrain
A crate 350ci GM motor with a new Carter 4-barrel carburetor with electric choke, MSD distributor, MSD coil, aluminum valve covers, and within rebuilt heads roller rockers, and pulley, Edelbrock intake, and oval air cleaner. To keep things cool a new radiator, chromed alternator, and new AC compressor. All attached to a TH350 3-speed automatic transmission, with aluminum deep sump pan.

Undercarriage
Definitely involved in the redux, we see a 3.73 10 bolt posi rear, a Heidt's Mustang 2 type suspension in front, and a leaf spring rear suspension. Power rack and pinion steering, new shocks, new lowering springs, and a new sway bar. Also seen are a new fuel tank, and stainless pipes exhaust with new mufflers.

Not exactly your mother's car she took to the store to get the groceries anymore, although if she was in a hurry, it would be perfect. This car has been painstakingly restored with no stone left unturned, and is absolutely beautiful, from the paint, to the interior to the undercarriage to the mill, it's all really well done!
