Vehicle Description
You don't often come across a true driver's car more than 15 years
old that's as fresh as this one. This 2003 Ford Mustang GT
Convertible has logged only 22,000 miles in its lifetime - less
than 2 years of driving by most standards - and it comes complete
with a clean AutoCheck report to confirm that it hasn't run afoul
of any immovable objects during that time. It's also been carefully
maintained and consistently garage-kept, so it's very
well-positioned to provide many more miles of driving
excitement.
The passing years haven't dimmed the curb appeal of this millennial
muscle car in the least. It's jet black paint remains in good shape
- even at close range you won't find any major issues and there's
no fading or oxidation in sight - and a thorough buffing session
will be all that's needed to bring out its best. Mustangs over the
ages have been the foundation for countless modification projects,
but this GT is a refreshing sight, in that it remains in almost
entirely factory configuration - it's riding at the same height it
left the factory with and still sports its original wheels. A Mach
I style chin spoiler has been added to the mix, and it really looks
great in this setting as it adds just a touch of era-appropriate
customization designed by Ford itself. For those occasions calling
for shelter while you're behind the wheel, the contrasting tan
power convertible top is in fine shape, raising into position
without issue, sealing nicely and even sporting a clear glass rear
window.
Light and respectful use has yielded some definite benefits as far
as this interior is concerned. It's about as well-preserved as they
come, showing no ill effects from either passengers or UV damage -
the latter always being an area of concern for droptops like this.
The tan upholstery not only is the perfect complement to the black
exterior, but is unusually fresh, with no pronounced wrinkling on
the bolsters of the front buckets, which carry about as much
supportive spring to them as they did when this GT first left the
showroom. A great audio experience comes via the upgraded AM/FM/CD
stereo with a 6-disc changer this pony sports by virtue of its
elevated GT status. As with the exterior, nearly everything has
been left stock, the only exception being the chrome rings
accenting the gauges inside the instrument panel, which are all
still very clear and fully functional. By the time this Mustang
debuted, air conditioning had become more of a given on
convertibles, and the one here is in top form, blowing cold and
strong to keep you and your passengers comfortable. In back, the
trunk area looks totally unmolested - the branded carpet lining its
floor appears as if it's never been moved.
This '03 was among the final classes of the Mustang's fourth
generation and it benefitted from all of the power upgrades Ford
made during its run. The fuel injected 4.6 liter V8 under its
scooped hood produces 260 horses that are delivered with all the
smoothness you could want and teams with a 5-speed manual
transmission that puts full control in the hands of the driver. The
3.27 ratio rear end balances strong off the line acceleration with
low revs at highway speeds. The power steering is nice and precise,
making corner carving a joy, while power disc brakes at all four
corners provide prompt, low-effort stops. Unusually well preserved
and vital-looking, this Pony cruises on a set of 17" stock Mustang
mag-style wheels, outfitted with Goodyear Eagle GT tires.
