Vehicle Description
A patina truck is always about delivering more than meets the eye,
and this 1948 Chevrolet 3100 shows that perfectly. After all, the
worn-in look has extra gloss on the outside and there's even V8
power and an overdrive transmission within.
It's hard not to fall in love with the patina look on a classic
pickup. After all, we want a vintage truck to be a tough-as-nails
workhorse, and this puts its enduring legacy on display. But
there's much more to love about this one than just its stamina. It
has a sporty look with the added gloss to the patina. The lowered
suspension draws your eyes to the front end where they have
conveniently removed the bumper so you can get an excellent look at
the hallmark 5-bar chrome grille. Those modern 17-inch Intro alloys
with the extra wide rear rubber hint at upgrades beneath the skin.
Even with all this, there's some great classic attitude seen
everywhere from the windshield sunshade to the real wood in the
truck bed. Plus, the South Sea's Distillery livery on the side is
part of a package that includes a rum barrel and pirate treasure
chest that go in this truck.
Inside the patina continues with a ton of custom touches, too. For
example, we know your eyes are immediately drawn to the two-tone
bench that's supple to the touch and has nice bolstering. This
custom setup is even repeated on the doors. Plus, there's plenty of
custom copper trim everywhere from the headliner to the center
console. While this has the classic steering wheel and worn-in
gauges, your real driving experience is upgraded with everything
from a Lokar shifter to a full set of Stewart Warner auxiliary
readouts.
The engine bay has some fun with a distillery-like overflow bottle
and an air topper that advertises this as a "Rum Runner". But what
you'll really like about this is the power upgrade. After all, a
305 cubic-inch small block V8 and a four-barrel carburetor is a
much more powerful setup that anything you got in an original 3100.
And you even get great supporting components, like the upgraded
aluminum radiator. Plus, the glasspack-style side exhaust loves to
announce this upgrade. But this truck's real reward is revealed
when you look at the undercarriage photos. There you'll see a much
more modern chassis, that includes an independent front end, power
front disc brakes, power steering, and a four-speed automatic
transmission w/overdrive. So while this truck looks like it spent
its life out in the field, it drives like a modern machine.
This is a cool patina truck with a ton of custom upgrades. So it's
amazing a one-of-a-kind machine like this can be so obtainable.
