Vehicle Description
GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present this 1911 Ford Model T
roadster for your consideration. This particular Model T is right
hand drive and was built in Walkerville, Ontario, Canada. The car
was meant to travel overseas, but never made it that far. This car
is nothing short of spectacular. Henry Ford made over 15 million
Model T's and part of his success was due to the fact that over the
19 years they were manufactured, all chassis and engine components
were interchangeable. Every few years, the styling was changed
slightly, the rear ends, leaf springs, mounting brackets and so on.
This car is 107 years old, obviously leaving many years and
opportunities for parts and pieces to be swapped out or upgraded or
traded over the years. Aside from the absolute beauty of this car,
the complete accuracy of this car is what makes it astounding. The
car has the correct rear end, leaf springs, mounting perches,
fender irons, coils, coil box, wheels and so on. Many T's were
updated to electric start over the years, which required taking the
Aluminum Hogs Head off and giving it newer cover to allow for a
starter, but this one remains just the way it was in 1911 without
electric start. Many beautiful examples are out there, but very few
are as correct as this one.
As you can see, this car is right hand drive, making the placement
of the spark advance and throttle on the steering column in the
opposite positions they normally are. The car rides on 30x3 in
the front and rear. The car runs very well and goes up and down the
road well. The paint, brass and upholstery remain in excellent
condition. The car has the "Mother in Law" seat as well. The
current owner has owned and loved this car for the last 56 years
and the car spent most of its life appearing at car shows. If you
are in the market for an early brass T, don't be fooled by an
incorrect comparable and grab this opportunity before it's
gone.
