This 1956 Ford F-100 is an interesting classic. After all, it has
the iconic vintage pickup look, but beneath it is a V8 upgrade and
a Powerglide transmission. So no matter if you're looking for a
cool classic or a little hot rod flair, this has it all... and all
for an affordable price.
These later 2nd-gen F-Series trucks are all about the curves.
Curved windshield, shapely fenders, and a rounded hood has a great
classic style. And the later application of bright red paint gives
this one plenty of gloss to show it off with pride. This has a nice
clean look with special attention paid to great vintage elements,
like the badging, white grille, bright lights, and full running
boards with Ford step plates. And you can also tell this truck is
still ready for a day's work with the steel guard on the front
bumper, a trailer ball attachment on the rear one, large towing
mirrors, and rugged diamond plating in the bed. But those 15-inch
polished wheels are also an indicator that this has some extra
performance, too.
Inside, the black door panels, carpeting, headliner, and newer seat
cover have a great look and a ready-to-work attitude. Plus, the red
on the dash and door tops adds some nice exterior-matching color.
You have some worthwhile upgrades like an auxiliary gauge trio,
fire extinguisher, and AM/FM/cassette radio. But none of it gets in
the way of the airy atmosphere only found in a vintage pickup.
Under the hood you can immediately spot the upgrade. The 327
cubic-inch V8 is a larger displacement than just about anything
that was available across the F-Series line in '56. And we know
that the GM small blocks are great for a mighty power package. It
has some nice flair with the polished air topper, alternator, and
valve covers. But what you'll really like is that this V8 fires up
readily and inhales deeply with a four-barrel carburetor. It also
exhales with authority as headers adds even more power while
contributing to the rumble of the shortened dual exhaust. So while
the Powergilde automatic transmission is there to give you extra
comfort, it's also a racer's favorite that can let you have some
classic hot rod fun with this classic Ford pickup.
