Vehicle Description
This 2003 BMW Z8 was an instant classic the moment it hit the
streets. After all, it's a V8-powered grand touring machine that
also pays tribute to some great BMW history. And its short
limited-production run has always kept these cars in-demand.
The factory silver is a great color to have. Not only because the
best classic German racers come in sliver, but also because this
was the same color that was used in the James Bond film The World
Is Not Enough. And just like the silver Aston DB5, aligning your
style with 007 is usually a smart move for timeless flair and
lasting value. The finish sill is smooth to the touch, which is a
testament to both the hand-finished quality as well as the care
that goes into a car that has averaged less than 4,000 miles
annually. More than just a nice presentation, this has history. The
long hood, distinct headlights, wide dual grille, bright fender
vents, and nicely flared rear fenders really make this the natural
successor to the BMW 507. And just like the 507, this car has
rarity. Only 5,703 were produced for the worldwide market over a
shorty four-year production run. And they made sure the details
were quite nice on this rare treat. You see it in the chromed
accessories, bright neon taillights, and stylish 18-inch alloys.
And while the black folding roof looks great against the silver
paint, the removable hardtop has an intricate style that makes it
like a work of art.
Just like the power folding roof, the black interior looks great
against the silver exterior. And there's plenty of silver accenting
inside, too, so you can really tell BMW created a car that was made
to look fantastic inside and out. There's beauty in this full
leather interior, especially because low mileage means little signs
of use. The dash has a terrific semi-circle pattern that strives
for so much symmetry that even the headlight controls look similar
to the ignition key when it's in place. Of course, since BMW makes
the ultimate driving machines, the center gauges are angled towards
the driver. Like a true German luxury and sports machine, they were
able to pack a ton of great features inside while still keeping a
very clean look. You get power bucket seats, power windows, power
locks, keyless entry/alarm, cruise control, power steering, dual
front airbags, side airbags, ABS, navigation system, and an
AM/FM/XM stereo w/CD changer. Plus, heated seats and ice-cold air
conditioning mean you get to dial-in your level of comfort even
when the top is down.
Under the hood is the correct 4.9-liter V8 engine. This DOHC,
32-valve fuel-injected V8 was shared with M5, and it makes the most
out of its 395 horsepower. BMW engineered the lightweight aluminum
chassis to carry this motor behind the front wheels. This lets it
sit lower for a better center of gravity, and it also sits in the
middle of the car for ideal weight distribution. Plus, the
fully-independent sports suspension, grippy Bridgestone Potenza
tires, and four-wheel disc brakes make for fun time on any road.
And you get full control of it all thanks to the six-speed manual
transmission. So we know you won't be able to resist adding to the
low odometer in this instant classic.
