Only 167 440 with 4-speeds built. Now consider this one has ram
air, concealed headlights, Dana rear, it's red; it's rare and
desirable. The 440 was no longer available in the Challenger. This
is THE most desirable muscle car Dodge built in 1972! It's a
survivor too. Mostly original paint, original interior and has #s
matching motor, trans and rear. Documented with build sheet and
fender tag.
EXTERIOR: Mostly original, preserved condition. Only the 1/4 panels
have been resprayed. Solid, uncut body. Minor rust bottom of driver
fender. All original trim, top and chrome in very good shape. The
concealed headlights are a very desirable option, they open and
close great on this car. Of course the vacuum operated, functional
air grabber is the cherry on top, very cool. The Rallye included
the bulged hood with pins, this one has optional black stripe. It
has 15 inch Rallye wheels with correct Polyglass tires. Wheels are
excellent condition, even the correct trim rings. Other features
include sport mirrors, striped indentations on the doors, fender
mounted turn signals. Up front the bumper, emblem and grills are
actually in really nice shape. The stainless trim all around the
roof is really straight and shiny. Vinyl top is original and in
excellent shape. In back the bumper has some freckles but still
shines, the tail light bezel is really nice.
INTERIOR: Completely original from carpet to headliner. Actually it
is in outstanding condition. Driver seat cover and carpet would
make it like new. Door panels, dash, instrument area, gauges, knobs
etc are in excellent shape. It is not beat up, cut or altered. The
cushion grip wheel is not cracked. The factory Am-Fm radio plays
clear from all four speakers. Has rare buddy cushion which doubles
as an armrest. It also has factory Rallye gauges. No splits in the
dash pad at all. Door panels, armrests, wood grain trim is
excellent. The a/c vents are not broken. Light works in the glove
box. Headliner, visors and mirror are excellent, overhead light
works.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: The vin #s matching 440 is out of the car for
preservation. In it's place is a strong running 400+ hp 440.
Original intake and carb are on the car. The original air cleaner
assembly is complete and functions. The original engine is complete
with original crank, rods, pistons, exhaust manifolds etc. Original
fender tag is still in place. The metal is all clean original, no
signs of rot or repair.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: It is in original condition, original metal not
repainted. Original mat. Has jack, spare with G60 tire. Original
weather strip.
UNDERSIDE: Very rock solid. Frame rails, floors, rockers are clean
original metal. Has factory undercoat with red paint showing in
places. Has vin # match H.D. Hemi 4-speed trans and original H.D.
Dana 60 rear end with 3.54 posi gears. The front end has been gone
through with some new bushings, lower ball joints, shocks. Has disc
brakes in front with new calipers and hoses.
