Vehicle Description
By now we all know how Chevy built a few quarter-mile kings direct
from the factory, and this 2015 Chevrolet Camaro COPO is one of
those rare factory speed machine. With its supercharged V8 and full
competition-ready package (right down to the racing parachute,)
this was born to be a red-hot total package.
Chevrolet might be the company that builds cars to fill America's
streets, but this one is only made to eat up the dragstrip. No
production VINs, and no-street legal legislation weighing it down.
Instead, this is built in the high-octane tradition of COPO cars
that snuck a few competition machines out the back door. This is
#22 of the ultra-small 69-car production run. The factory Red Hot
paint gives off a terrific gloss, but you also know this is no
assembly line Camaro. Every angle gives away the ultra
high-performance look with the big cowl hood, COPO badging, and
Bogart polished wheels with the ideal stagger in with for drag
racing. This was optioned with the top-dog motor in 2015, and so
that also mean it came with features not on the other COPOS,
including a carbon fiber hood and parachute. Plus, there are other
race-ready options like the wheelie bar.
The interior is pure race machine. That's why you have a full
chromoly roll cage, racing bucket seats, and RJS racing harnesses
and net. And just to remind you that this is a factory-backed
effort, there are COPO logos on the seats and dash. Chevrolet
wanted this to feel like a true stock racer, so you get the factory
wheel w/stereo switches, full door panels w/speaker inserts, and
center control knobs. Of course, none of them are hooked up to
anything, because this is all about being the lightest and quickest
Camaro around. That's why your real controls are the toggle
switches neatly integrated into the dash. The factory speedo and
tach are supplemented by all your important auxiliary readouts in
the center at eye level. There's even a large AutoMeter tach
w/shift light mounted correctly on the A-pillar. It goes great with
the Hurst Quaterstick shifter.
Under the hood is the meanest motor that was offered with the 2015
COPO. It's a 350 cubic-inch Chevrolet Performance LSX block with a
Whipple 2.9-liter twin-screw supercharger on top. The motor is
fully built to support this big power induction. It includes a
Callies 4340 Dragonslayer crankshaft, Callies 4340 H-beam rods,
Mahle forged 2618 alloy pistons, Mahle rings, Comp Cams hydraulic
roller camshaft, aluminum heads, and much more (call for all the
details.) Fuel is delivered through an Aeromotive injection system
that is programed for supercharged power. And American Racing
headers are the last step before the thunder freely flows beneath
the car. The full package is rated by Chevrolet at 530 horsepower.
Plus, all fluids and filters have been replaced quite recently to
keep it in top condition, and even the torque on the bolts was
checked. The V8 is mated to a ATI Racing Products TH400 three-speed
with reverse manual valve body. This feeds a strong Strange
Engineering 9-inch rear lightweight spool and 4.10 gears for
excellent take-offs. Plus, you get a four-link rear (w/Panhard
link,) adjustable coilovers, four-wheel disc brakes, and Goodyear
Eagle racing tires.
The sale comes complete with the full owner's manual packet unique
to these COPO cars. You know how special this coupe is, and so you
also know what kind of rare opportunity you're looking at. Call
